Anyone know about Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes

I'm posting here for traffic.
Dd13 has to do an English essay about Irene Adler, a character in one of the Sherlock Holmes books. She is convinced that there is a Jacobean setting and I said it is a Victorian setting. Can anyone with more literary knowledge tell me what the Jacobean link (if any) there could be ?
At one stage dd mixed up Conan Doyle with Shakespeare so I'm not sure what else could be mixed up.
Dd said this what her teacher told her it is Jacobean but she won't see her until next week to get clarity. That's also when the essay is due in.

He was brilliant! My favourite Sherlock Holmes by far.

Can I speak up for the wonderful Clive Merrison, who recorded every single story plus some extras? First with Michael Williams as Watson and after his sad death with Andrew Sachs. Truly excellent and adapted by Bert Coules.

Agreed. I've got them in my Audible library and they're excellent.

I haven't listened to those, I'll have to give them a go!

Jeremy Brett is outrageously good. Out acts everyone! His Irene was Gayle Hunnicut… serene and intelligent.

That's good to know. I love the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes.
Which version of Miss Marple do they have? I love the ones with Joan Hickson but I'm not keen on the Geraldine McKewan ones.

It IS the one with Joan Hickson. I’ve only seen one of the Geraldine McEwan ones; the acting was just fine, but I started with Joan Hickson as Miss Marple and she’s become Miss Marple in my head. If you like Agatha Christie, I believe they also have adaptations of “Why Didn’t They Ask Evans” and “And Then There Were None” is on the BBC iPlayer, I think? FABULOUS cast in the latter; Charles Dance, Aidan Turner (he doesn't hurt the eyes much, does he), Miranda Richardson, Sam Neill, Anna Maxwell Martin (I thought her acting was genius in “The Bletchley Circle,” and “Death Comes to Pemberley,” which I honestly thought was better than the book), etc.

Lots to look forward to when I want something to binge on. Thanks

Tell her to read it! I’ve always wondered why Irene Adler escapes abroad after her marriage. The king was no threat to her once she told him she’d take no more action.

SEVERAL SPOILERS. In her letter to Holmes,
she claims it’s because she doesn’t want to face Holmes directly in a battle of wits, though I think it more likely she was either just going on her honeymoon (I thought it likely they would return after a brief sojourn, as her new husband is a a solicitor) or was unsure how the king would react and chose to be away in safety. She specifically says: “We both thought the best resource was flight, when pursued by so formidable an antagonist; so you will find the nest empty when you call to-morrow.” Make of that what you will.
