To think that watching The Kardashians is just mindless entertainment?

I’ve tried watching a few episodes and I just don’t get it. It feels like nothing really happens, just rich people mumbling in monotone voices about their skincare lines. AIBU to think it’s the definition of mindless viewing or am I missing the appeal?

I've never watched but that is exactly what I'd expect it to be. What were you expecting?

The people who watch are either looking for style inspiration or enjoy gossiping about the Ks, which is better than gossiping about people they actually know.

I’ve watched it because it is mindless entertainment! Exactly what I need sometimes to just switch off and not really have to concentrate on a story line.
I have no other interest in their lives, don’t follow them on socials or know much about their brands or businesses outside of what I see on the show.
But I love to watch reality tv to just chill with or have on in the background.

I think thats the point isn't it?
Its not meant ti be intellectually stimulating.

I find watching the kardashians entertaining and fascinating, how the other half live.

I used to.watch it years ago when they had the Dash store and Kylie and Kendal were children, it was twaddle but it had a sort of storyline I had to stop after a couple of seasons because it was really Toxic and I couldn't stand any of them.

I like it because i dont have any sisters.

It is interesting for me to watch a family where there are five sisters. I get to see what it is like

I have several sisters and I can promise you we’re nothing like the Kardashians !

I've never watched the Kardashians because I can't really tell them apart and do really understand what they do. But if people want to watch their goings on, why not. Mindless entertainment has it's place, doesn't mean people don't watch anything meaningful, it's just that sometimes you need some total drivel to relax and unwind.
I watch all sorts of other rubbish (Survivor, Honeymoon Island, etc etc.) It's crap but so what?

I don’t watch it. My sister an educated accountant likes it. I’d be afraid they’d earn a penny from me watching that shite.

There are other examples of mindless entertainment, Made in Chelsea comes to mind, TOWIE also. Many people want that as an escape from everyday life.

It doesn't pretend to be anything it is not. Unlike say GB News claiming to be a news channel, or Mrs Brown's Boys a comedy.

I haven't watched it in years, but I did enjoy it years ago, when the youngest two girls were little. It was still mindless, but that's exactly why I watched it. After a long day at work, something far removed from my reality was a nice change.

I do think Kris has been incredibly clever and helped turned all of those women into multi millionaires.

I think mindless TV has a place. I have another friend wo is a family court lawyer. He only does cases at the extremely pointy end of the spectrum. police involvement, lots of violence and abuse. Stuff that doesn't make the papers. He comes home and watches all of the Housewife shows, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills etc. Same reason, it's so far removed from what he does during the day, it lets his mind switch off and have a proper break.

It's top tier mindless escapism. I have it on while tidying up.
