To think it could be pneumonia - day 17

I’ve had a deep productive (green phlegm) cough for 18 days. I’ve been vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, temperature, not eating, muscle aches, and sticky eyes for 16 days now. I’ve not been able to do anything. I’m breathless but only when I get out of bed for the toilet.

I slept through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I went to the drs a week before Christmas who said I had a UTI and a “flu like illness”. my chest was clear, but my temp was 39 ish. They said it would pass in a week.

but I’m not getting better, I’m just staying the same. I’ve had to have paracetamol and ibroprufen (sp sorry!) every 4 hours for the whole 17 days. I’ve been resting and doing nothing and I’m not better. I vomit every morning and then throughout the day if I try to eat. My cough sounds like a wet bark!

I’ve tried to get another GP appointment but I’ve been told to go to A&E as they’ve got no appointments, which is ridiculous.

anyone have experience of walking pneumonia? I’m losing the will to live and go back to work on Monday :(

How’s your voice when you talk ? If you’re struggling to get enough breath to form words you need to be seen urgently. I’d go to a abd e and they’ll xray your chest fairly quickly.

Aah just seen update. Thank goodness

ohpoowhatnow · 31/12/2025 16:05

Just seen you have been. Sounds very much like my pneumonia I had last Christmas. I’m glad you’re being sorted. Don’t rush to be discharged like I did - ended up with embedded pneumonia and a lung abscess. Good luck !

@ohitsashameforyouemma aw man that spit up looks grim. I’m glad you’re being taken seriously but I’m angry that it’s taken over two weeks for you to get the help you need despite asking for it! Hope you’re ok soon.

angieloumc · 31/12/2025 16:19

Aw bless you OP, hopefully you’ll recover soon.

Spiffit · 31/12/2025 16:25

So glad you went in OP. Hope you're feeling better soon 💐

I voted you are unreasonable not to go to a&e. But I see now you have been admitted.

Please attend a&e when advised to. It's sometimes the best place to go to get the correct care.

Thank you for the update - so glad you have been seen & are in the right place. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
