People who feel completely alien to you…

I’ll start - people who can’t wait to take the tree and decorations down on Boxing Day (or any time during the following very few days) and ‘have a really good clean’.

2nd (this’ll be popular on MN!) - people who don’t like dogs. 🐶❤️

Adults who love Disney. I think they’re from another planet full of thickos

People who say crap like this.
I'm not massively into Disney, but so what if other adults are?!
It's totally alien to me to be so self absorbed that you think everyone else has to like the same thing, like there's a rule book somewhere telling people what is or isn't acceptable to like as an adult.
Sounds totally boring and a rigid way of thinking /life to me.
Each to their own.

manicpixieschemegirl · 30/12/2025 18:57

Rigid rule followers.

People who love Dubai.

People who aren’t one bit interested in history.

Those who lack whimsy.

cramptramp · 30/12/2025 19:00

I like dogs, but people who treat them like children.
People who find Mrs Browns Boys funny.

People who actively dislike animals and would never own a pet of any kind.

People who think voting Reform will make the country vastly improved.

People who go to their local pub for years but only ever seem to give the other locals dirty looks in response to their polite smiles or greetings.

People who happily purchase and eat margarine to spread on toast. Then refer to it as 'butter'.

People who spend money on logo laden 'designer' labels that either are fake or look it because they're so gaudy and tacky.

People who call low fat spreads margarine when the vast majority of them on sale in the U.K. are not, in fact margarine.

The Disney thing.....someone I know goes to Disneyland Paris at least 3 times a year, with her daughter, as well as a Disney cruise. My friend is 63, her daughter is 35. They count the sleeps on Facebook until they go, dress up in Disney clothes- complete with MM ears- and post pics about the activities they're doing. Including pics of MM kissing them on the cheeks. HE'S NOT REAL!!!
I just don't get it...

HideousKinky · 30/12/2025 19:13

People who can endure tap dancing without wanting to rip their ears off

Seawolves · 30/12/2025 19:15

People who stare at my little boy because he's disabled

People who stare because he still has a dummy

People who make stupid comments like "At least he can't run away from you!"

ArcticBells · 30/12/2025 19:20

Almost the entire population

Thepeopleversuswork · 30/12/2025 19:22

People who say they “hate people” or “its too peoply out there”. Apparently unaware of the irony that they are seeking validation online from, er, people!

My husband will say this, he doesn’t give a hoot about validation from anyone.

Tree and decorations are coming down tomorrow and I strongly dislike dogs. Oh and I don’t eat out.

I’m an alien then.

You don't eat out not even on holiday or for days out or peoples birthdays or work functions etc

People who voluntarily join the armed forces. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful that you do, but I've never seen the appeal.

Ones who are constantly cheerful. Nobody is cheerful all the time! Stop being so positive , sometimes life is stressful and hard going. Find the inner negativity! Glasses can be half empty you know!

I don't think they are. I'm always cheerful in front of others, people always say how im always happy the reality is I'm just a good actress and have multiple serious mental illnesses

Work with the general public long enough and you will understand

I mean it’s entirely your right to feel that people who haven’t been to university are “alien”.

It just feels very self limiting to me. You’re cutting out of your circle so many potentially interesting people for such an arbitrary reason and narrowing your experience and perspective which is at odds with the basic premise of wanting to be educated.

But you do you.

I think it would be extremely unlikely that I would meet someone who hadn't been to university in my social circles. Given I'm in my sixties I have long established friends and family, if I go to a party held by one of them I may meet someone I haven't met before but the person usually turns out to be a friend of similar social and educational background.
I think there are plenty of highly educated people whose circles are full of people similar to them and who simply don't mix on a social basis with people who didn't obtain a higher education.

In the same way I would expect that the bin men who collected my bins this morning don't generally hang round with and have friends who have been to university.

Fbfbfvfvv · 30/12/2025 19:50

People who spend money on getting fillers, plastic surgery and Botox etc. I don’t understand the need to look like an alien.

Pretty much this. I don’t have an issue with people who haven’t been to uni, and I’m not ‘cutting them out of my circle’. I just don’t know any and don’t tend to meet very many in the normal way of things. They are alien to me. Which isn’t to say there’s anything wrong with not going to uni, it’s just completely different to my experience of the world.

I think it’s really interesting how some people are taking ‘X is alien to me’ to mean ‘I am better than X’ or ‘I disapprove of X’.

spicycats · 30/12/2025 20:00

Women who love being pregnant

Women who bang on about birth being a beautiful and natural experience, rather than one that is hideously painful, often traumatic, and potentially requiring emergency surgery to save both lives. In the same vein, women who seem to pretend that dying in childbirth isn’t also a very natural part of the process without medical intervention.

Parents who let their children squeal (in public or not, it’s an awful noise!)

People who ‘don’t like animals’

Runners

Beezz · 30/12/2025 20:06

People who post on MN.

manicpixieschemegirl · 30/12/2025 20:07

Anyone who thinks bin men couldn’t possibly know anyone who went to university must surely have been beamed down from the USS Enterprise fairly recently. Or perhaps they’re just a pompous twat.

Ok cool. Thank you. Cos yeah that wasn't what I meant at all. Just that some designer things are really not my taste and overpriced.

Each to their own.

Do you know any Disney adults in real life? Nobody's judging the fact that they enjoy something meant for children, but it's the "vibe" they give off. There's always something slightly unnerving about the way Disney adults portray their own lifestyle. Many of them post about their trips like it's supposed to make other adults jealous. They often keep the trip secret until suddenly posting a huge reveal of themselves at Disneyland with some sort of triumphant caption (bear in mind nobody cares at all because they go there at least 5 times a year). Or they show themselves with Disney mascots and doing other childish activities as if other adults must be dying to experience the same thing.

I think it's the weird disconnect between not understanding that what you enjoy doing isn't necessarily what other people enjoy. Most people know that they can post about a beach vacation or a city break but in a way that is fully self aware. The narrative is "I'm an adult and here are a few pictures of a vacation I really enjoy". Whereas with Disney adults, the narrative is usually "LOOK WHERE I AM NOW AREN'T YOU JEALOUS HAHAHA NANANANA *blows raspberry"
