Help I can't stop eating

Is it this sudden cold snap? Last two days I've been eating constantly (I mean constantly from morning til night). Trying to maximise "filling" things like veggie soup and porridge but it's not taking the edge off or saving me from the discount full sized Colin Caterpillar cake.

It’s winter, it’s freezing cold and life is short.

Eat the cake. Personally I’d have it with a bowl of hot custard.

I used to have a hollow stomach during a certain time in my cycle each month. Also, each Christmas I do get to a point of daily "treats", that I have to wean myself off of. Do you know what's causing yours?

I've no idea usually I'm quite good at just thinking oh if you wait til this evening you'll enjoy it so much more (and I know overeating makes me tired and feel crap). Ugh tomorrow is a new day (although also hogmanay - I'll try to do intermittent fasting)

If it's really bothering you, drink lots of water or try keeping yourself occupied.

Although I'm one of these weird people who doesn't mind the feeling of hunger too much.

Bebetterbetty · 30/12/2025 13:45

Keep yourself warm.

Eat high protein food as they fill you up for longer.

Take a vitamin supplement daily in case you are hungry because you are missing a vitamin or mineral in your diet.

Don’t eat the family sized cake. It’ll only make you feel rubbish.

Nor do I it's not the feeling of hunger it's the feeling of dopamine deficit (which is ofc the driver of overeating in general).

Trust me the "it will fill you up" thing doesn't work with dopamine driven eating. The stomach stretches as far as the brain requires it to.

Yes when I was having a cycle I would be starting for a few days before my period eat from the minute I got up.

What are you craving or is it just anything?

Salty stuff especially (despite aforementioned Big Colin)

I woke up this morning absolutely starving - so I made cheeseburgers. Eat your cake. Take a walk - it’s fine ❤️

Same, but I’m always like this at this time for year. In fact, I’m always like this, full stop. But it’s particularly pronounced during the festive period.

MartinCrieffsHat · 30/12/2025 15:56

I've been eating excessively and it seems to be junk. If it wasn't there I'd not be hungry.
