Posting for traffic really.

but does anyone else just feel so down? It hit me like a tonne of bricks today and I just feel so sad that the festive period is over. I feel like I’ve just lived through one of the best Christmases I’ll get with my kids (5 and 1) and then I get so sad about them growing up.

does anyone have any stories of times with older kids that felt lovely?! I don’t know why I feel so sad about them getting older, but I’d love to hear some patenting older kids anecdotes!

Yes, but my kids are 15 and 9 and Christmas is still fantastic. You've got a lot of brilliant years yet.

Ahh c'mon! Surely next Xmas when your then 2yo understands and your then 6yo still believes will be even better?

Tumbleweed101 · 29/12/2025 20:53

If your children are still that young then Christmas's will only get better! Mine are all grown up and although it is becoming very different to when they were little it is a lot more relaxing now and still just as enjoyable!

100% you've got so many more that will get even better, but totally understand the blues...goes far too fast

Know what you mean . Have had a quiet Christmas then a big family lunch yesterday for daughters 21st. Have crashed to the floor today

My children are all grown up and we’ve had an amazing Christmas, obviously it’s different now they’re older but it was a chilled and relaxing Christmas. The day is what you make it. New traditions and old ones continuing.

I worked far too much on the run uk to Christmas and was completely burnt out by Christmas Eve (I’d finished up work on 22nd) Christmas Day totally drained me and I did t have the best day due to being tired. I’ve slept 15/16 hours a day since. Today was my first day of feeling normal. Yesterday was a total battle with my mental health. I was quite teary and felt hopeless, dreading going into the new year. I also hate New Year’s Eve when everyone is celebrating and I just really want to go to bed but on the day I wish I’d made plans and get upset about it that I haven’t. I can’t win lol.

Still New Year’s celebrations to go so not down here. Hosting a big party and seeing 2026 in with unlimited champagne 🍾

Yeah i hate the post Christmas blues, I normally get them quiet bad, but ive been enjoying the last few in-between days much more than other years. I've just been taking them for what they are, down time, doing nothings and having the kids all roaming around in their pj's (my 3 dc are ealry 20s and a teen). Dh and me did talk before Christmas about how we miss the chaos of Christmas when they were younger, but I have to say we have had the nicest Christmas with them, not sleep deprived or stressed out hiding things. So it might be different as they grow but it brings its own type of lovely ❤️
