Not a fan as I don’t like filled doughnuts. I know they do a glazed ring but I don’t like plain either just don’t want them filled!

They’re absolutely rank.

And that's being kind. Overpriced and just awful. Get a bag from Sainsbury's or Tesco of regular jam ones

CarefullyCuratedFurniture · 29/12/2025 21:42

They're adequate. Lidl's jam doughnuts are much better, and far cheaper.

daisychain01 · 29/12/2025 21:42

A waste of money and empty calories.

im not a donut person but if forced Id be a lot happier with a Tesco jam donut.

Roostie · 29/12/2025 21:44

For people who like them but balk at the cost, they are often on the Too Good To Go app, 6 for £4.65 !

Tacocat2 · 29/12/2025 21:44

Horrible things.

TeenLifeMum · 29/12/2025 21:46

Lidl and Asda own are so much nicer. I find Krispy Kreme disappointing and quite dense.

Lidl bakery beats all of those!

GivingUpFinally · 29/12/2025 21:55

I only buy them if they have Boston cream ones available. They take me back to my childhood. Although they are definitely not as good as the Tim Horton's ones.
Otherwise, I just buy the gorcery store bakery ones if I fancy a doughnut. Tim Horton's also do the best doughnut holes (Timbits).
The Tim's over here don't do nearly as many flavours as they do in Canada or America. The apple fritter one is literally the best.

LemonSlushy · 29/12/2025 21:59

Not keen on Lidl bakery, don’t know how anyone eats from there, always flies all over the pastries and I saw a kid drop a doughnut and a man told her to pick it up and put it back 🤢

They’re absolutely rank.

"absolutely rank" 😂

No, the traditional Easter soup I had in Cyprus one year, what with the crinkly green intestinal (?) bits and the eyeball, that was absolutely rank.

I don't think KK are that special but have enjoyed the odd one - the one with raspberry cream is nice.

Overpriced and not worth bothering with really, but not 'rank', that's just silly.

I think the proper ranking of doughnuts is thus:

3rd place: The classic, humble, supermarket jam doughnut. Nostalgic, sweet but not sickly, a touch of tart from the jam. Absolutely no complaints.

2nd place: freshly fried, still hot donuts from a stall at the fair (or beachside trailer etc). Fluffy, crispy, spicy sweet perfection.

1st place: The true doughnut king, unparalleled behemoth of fried majesty, busting at the seams with silky cream custard filling and slathered in a thick blanket of icing, the one and only fudge doughnut baked fresh every day by Fisher and Donaldson in St Andrews. Beautiful.

Ponderingwindow · 30/12/2025 01:29

Krispy Kreme got famous for serving piping hot donuts straight off the line. Those were amazing. Cars would block traffic to get them. Next to impossible to find served that way anymore (plus adult onset allergies I’m not allergic to them so it doesn’t really matter anyway)

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 30/12/2025 01:32

Over priced and over rated.

XWKD · 30/12/2025 01:38

There was so much hype about these since around 2000. Nothing could live up to the hype. They're fairly generic American-style fast food doughnuts.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/12/2025 01:39

They used to like the cruller ones, they were solid and very dunkable with a black coffee, the standard ones are too light and sweet for me but they smell delicious being made.

narcASD · 30/12/2025 01:44

I’m a sweet tooth and find them vile, they leave a greasy film on the roof of my mouth, supermarket jam ones are far nicer

ARunByFruiting · 30/12/2025 01:45

I was looking at them today in the supermarket and couldn't believe how much smaller they looked!

Strangerthanfictions · 30/12/2025 01:50

I like them a lot. I get them on too good to go, they often come up and I nip along to the local shop late at night and get a dozen for a fiver, sometimes they let me choose other times I just get what they have left.

I call number 3- “dirty doughnuts” to distinguish them from the Kristy Kreme type of affair.

Yes indeed, a fudge donut from Fisher & Donaldson is a thing of joy.

EconomyClassRockstar · 30/12/2025 02:14

Donuts are the devil's food. They taste like shit and make you feel sick for the next 3 hours.

RichPetuniaAgain · 30/12/2025 03:40

Another one here for Lidl’s. I get their chocolate hazelnut filled doughnut as a regular treat. Costs under 80p and is yum 😁👍

ThePerfectWeekend · 30/12/2025 03:51

Stodgy, stale and too sweet.

Tim Horton's are even sweeter than Krispy Kreme! Absolutely inedible.
