Are you still eating Christmas food?

We are! We're having our ham tonight with stuffed twice baked potatoes, red cabbage & cauliflower cheese.

We'll eat the rest of the ham tomorrow

We don't have too much left after that which is good as we're away for 4 days over new year.

We still have chocolates & alcohol left but they have long life so will never be wasted. I'm v glad we are using all the actual food we bought

I bought far less this year as we were away visiting family & away again in few day. I didn't buy some stuff we usually grt & we really haven't missed it. I didn't bother with:
Tin of belgian chocolate biscuits
Cheese board
Cheese crackers
Charcuterie
Pate
Dips of any sort
Chocolates (we bought 1 tub quality street the day we put up the tree & three quarters still there)
Christmas pudding
Nuts

We have been enjoying:

All butter pastry mince pies from small bakery with baileys squirty cream
Baileys thick cream in our coffee in the morning
Nice wine
Real baileys with ice

Sort of. We’ve got various party type food things in to eat over NY - not sure if that counts?

We weren’t here for actual Christmas so haven’t got the classic Christmas
left overs. We’ve got lots of chocolates, cheese and crackers etc though.

On the other hand, we’ve had vegetable soups (different ones, home made) for dinner the last two days.

Rainbow1901 · 29/12/2025 21:44

Just the end of the ham, some salad stuff, loads of different cheeses, crackers, snacks, nuts, xmas cake, sweets, mince pies, xmas pudding and lots of freezer nibbles. Some of these are not even open yet so will be watching the dates on them to use them up.
New Years Eve is coming up so DH and I will have a selection of nibbles, crackers and cheese to munch on while watching TV during that evening.
We also have loads of Beer, Cider, Ginger Beer and soft drinks but not too concerned about those because we can drink those when the weather warms up in the coming Spring and Summer. I froze the remainder of the beef and turkey - ready in slices for a few quick roast dinners and diced for curries.
I have the ingredients for a couple of trifles but will need to buy more cream for those - but in no rush for those with everything else that is left.
Hoping for a low spend January but don't think it will be a dry January though -as I was gifted 6 bottles of wine as a thank you and a customer gave all the girls in the shop a bottle of spirits!! 🍾🍷🍸🍹

Still have cheese and crackers, pork pies pigs in blankets, potatoes cabbage and parsnips. But working on it.

Hattieandcake · 29/12/2025 21:46

yep we had gammon rolls for breakfast - cheese board starter for dinner and mince pies with baileys cream for pud. Still got some cheese and Christmas puddings left.

Hattieandcake · 29/12/2025 21:50

Oh I wet and got another bottle of baileys today - will begone by NY

anonocakey · 29/12/2025 21:59

Forgot there's also half a Christmas pudding in the fridge with brandy butter and cream and a few mince pies in the cupboard. Am sure DS1 will make short work of those when he finds them

Run30 · 29/12/2025 22:01

DH is finishing up the cheese.
There is still pate, some leftover trifle and chocolates too.
I’ve frozen the leftover bacon.

Dramatic · 29/12/2025 22:09

No we ate the whole lot on Christmas day 🙈

Makingadecision · 29/12/2025 22:11

Yes. Crisps and quality street all day

mindutopia · 29/12/2025 22:12

We finished the actual Christmas lunch food today. I ate the rest of the veg for lunch, and then tonight we had night 2 of turkey ramen made from turkey stock and leftover turkey. So the turkey fed us for 5 days in total. Huzzah!

The only thing left is cheese and crackers, which we’ll have on NYE. And somewhere there is a box of After Eights.

Then we have New Year’s Day food to start on, which is a glazed ham, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, bread sauce (okay, that is technically a frozen leftover from Christmas, as is the cabbage) and french beans. That will last us 2 days.

Then we’re back to normal.

xAwaywiththefairiesx · 29/12/2025 22:21

I used up the perishables today. We had bubble and squeak for breakfast and froze B&S patties for further breakfasts. The kids had ham and turkey with their lunch and then for dinner this evening I made tagliatelle and melted in the last of the Christmas cheeses (except the brie) with the rest of the double cream I'd bought for the Christmas desserts, and all the leftover broccoli. Was delish. Then I ate the last of the brie with crackers a few minutes ago.
Still lots of ham and turkey left which unfortunately had to go outside for the foxes ab it's all dry now and it's been four days. They will enjoy it, I'm sure :)

There's loads of crisps, sweets, chocolate, mince pies and alcohol left which will last well into January. Especially the chocolate. There's far too much.

Edit: just remembered there's still a lot of pate! DH will need to use that up ASAP

Jellycatspyjamas · 29/12/2025 22:23

I made turkey, ham and leek pie filling today to use up the last of the meat and vegetables, we had some for dinner and another portion frozen. Still have crisps, chocolate and cake but they’ll be eaten over the next couple of weeks. Cheese and crackers have been lunch staples with soup. I plan for Christmas food to last through to new year so I’m not worried about having stuff kicking around.

nam3c4ang3 · 29/12/2025 22:27

We will be eating on New Year’s Eve - but we always buy so much! One of my kids ate mince pies for breakfast this morning 😂

Fbfbfvfvv · 29/12/2025 22:28

We have loads left. We have been having a buffet every day because I always buy too much of that stuff, lots of chocolates, nuts, cheese and alcohol left. Unopened Christmas cake, Pannetone and a Christmas pudding too.

Haven’t had much waste this year. Just some of the crap that Asda sent that was unusable due to the state they delivered it in! I will never rely on Asda for a Christmas delivery ever again. Almost everyone I read about on here who had a bad delivery had it from Asda.

WideOpenBeaches · 29/12/2025 22:30

Please freeze any leftover food that you can! Food is so expensive 😮‍💨

I have ploughed through the sprouts but sliced the ham up and wedged 2 slices between grease proof paper and stuck in the freezer. They hardly take up any room.

Most cheeses will freeze. Maybe grate them up and stick into a bag to sprinkle over stuff in the next few months.

YuleLogsAndEggNog · 29/12/2025 22:35

We are going away self catering for 4 nights over New year. I'm taking lots of cheese, pate, nice nibbles, biscuits, chocolates and booze with us!
I've also prepared some meals to take (they are in the freezer) beef bourgenion, chicken curry, bolognese and a fish pie.
Four days of chilling out in the hot tub, eating drinking, playing games and watching movies.
Bliss.

DrunkenKoala · 29/12/2025 23:09

Finished the turkey and ham off yesterday.
Finished the Yule log today.
Got a couple of mince pies and Christmas cake left and still got loads of cheese.
I bought extra pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese which we are having on New Year’s Eve (we’re having a roast in the evening).
And we’ve still got an unopened tin of biscuits.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 29/12/2025 23:11

Yes, ham, egg and chips (from the 5p potatoes) I use Maris piper ones for my roast potatoes. These random white potatoes are ok for chips, mash and wedges.

Pineapplewaves · 29/12/2025 23:21

All we have left from the Christmas allocation is half a Christmas cake, a few mince pies and the chocolates that nobody likes. Anything not yet opened is now for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

mondaytosunday · 29/12/2025 23:31

Yes! They night we turned the remaining turkey into a mushroom goulash type thing with rice. We had ham on Boxing Day so will have that tomorrow in sandwiches. We finished the last of the leftover veg and potatoes yesterday.

PurpleLovecats · 29/12/2025 23:34

Used on the last of the turkey today. Still got lots of cheap veg, think I’ll make soup tomorrow for the freezer.
Quite a bit of cheese left and also a Panetonne, alcohol, nuts, Xmas puddings, mince pies, cream, biscuits, crisps, olives, pickles, chocolates, fudge…

JanetareyouokareyouokJanet · 29/12/2025 23:46

I love working my way through the Christmas food, making things and freezing things.

MeinKraft · 30/12/2025 00:13

We don’t have loads, there’s a christmas cake which i’ll be eating until easter and a bit of yule log and a few cocktail sausages left. And some quality street and nuts. i didn’t go mad this year.
