To hot glue the rooms into gabbys bastarding dollhouse

DD got the main dollhouse for Christmas and some rooms from other relatives. Today we tried to add the rooms to the house, and it doesn't connect. After googling, frantically searching the house and recycling for non-existent ledge pieces, then further googling, it transpires that we have the movie addition house, which has an entirely different connecting mechanism, so isn't compatible with the standard rooms she has.

The boxes are completely destroyed, so no chance of returning them and swapping for compatible rooms. WIBU to hot glue the bits we have in and hope she loses intrest before my bodge fix brakes.

That or create a whole neighbourhood like the cul de sac in barbie and have the separate rooms as a cool bungalow set up over the road. Then use shoe boxes to add to the street.

We had same issue but DD2 seems to like just taking them in and out of the existing rooms and moving them around so we’ve just got a box for them and putting them in and out seems to be part of the fun for her. It is annoying though, it’s really poorly advertised that only the movie rooms fit the new house.

I'm mostly annoyed at myself for not realising what the issue was before pulling my living room apart looking for the ledge pieces. I just assumed I'd missed them when I put the house together Christmas morning.

Google even said the movie and standard ranges are compatible, and I had to read down quite far to work out what it meant was you can put movie rooms in older houses, but not the other way round

I mean what sort of house comes without rooms in the first place! I understand add-ons to toys etc but doesn't that make it just a plastic box with ears?

Pretty much, but unfortunately it's what DD had her heart set on. I didn't want it to be her equivalent of Mr frosty, even if it is only marginally less shite

That's so frustrating! Hate when they make things incompatible like that. I'd glue it!
