Late 40’s?

Have lived abroad a long time, want to return to the uk, but it’s a totally different area to where i’m originally from-family now live there. So i’d only have my family there, no friends etc and would have to start all over again in that regard, it’s not easy at this age is it?
Have a dh and young dc

Yes of course you can. You have your immediate and extended family.

imagine being single and not having anyone. You are in a very fortunate position!

Its exciting. What are you worried about?

Do it. I did it 3.5 years ago. You can make friends wherever you live if you get out and about.

Having young kids can really help you get to know people and if you work you'll meet people there. Plus you'll have all your family. I think it would be harder to start again at that age if you were single with no family, but you've got a great set up IMO.

You can create a new life for yourself so long as you're willing to put the work in.

Will you and your dh be able to easily find work when you arrive? What about housing? Have you looked into the costs of living in the UK?

To make new friends you have to be willing to get and about very regularly, join classes, engage with your community etc.
