To feel completely drained by constant calorie and food talk over the holidays?

I know people have different relationships with food but I find that during the Xmas season, endless talk about calories, guilt, “earning” food or how much someone’s eaten just completely sucks the joy out of things for me. It starts to feel oppressive - like every meal has to come with commentary or self-flagellation, when I just want to enjoy the time, the food and the company without moralising it.

AIBU to find that kind of talk really exhausting, especially at Christmas?

I think YANBU - I would find that deeply odd.

I always say how stuffed I am but in a positive way as in how much I enjoyed it. If people are doing it to embarass others, its just mean. I always over do it at Christmas but so what. I dont really get why saying I earned it is bad, again I see it as positive.
