There was a very similar post within the past couple of days something like "should I stop using conception (sic) at 40". Maybe it's just a weird coincidence.

Not really, given that this post is over 5 months old.

I am I’m pretty sure if I posted I was going to get pregnant at 38 on here,I would be told I’m too old.

Yup, you probably would get blasted. But that's just bc the MNers like to be contrary, or just like shooting down OPs for sport.

I get the feeling your post is tongue in cheek, but just in case it's not: i got pregnant at 39 after having a sterilisation. My tubes were clipped, but one of the clips fell off (i think after playing a 5-a-side tournament). The consultant removed my tubes and the offending tube was examined by pathology and found to be kinked from where the clip had been and he had no idea how the egg managed to get down it, and get fertilised and the right place, and implant & carry correctly given my age.

Life will, eh, find a way.

It's ok if you're ok with being 'forced' into compression stockings and blood thinner injections

Eh? What are you on about?

Badslipperluck · 01/06/2026 19:35

@Muffsies In my area a few years ago this was standard for over 35s

Twins at 42 here. Woman at baby group had first at 46 and a family friend had her last at 50 🤣

I got pregnant the second month trying with my daughter at 38. I'm also 43 just now and I'm reasonably confident it wouldn't take long still.

I had my youngest at 38. Unexpectedly got pregnant with twins at 40 and again at 43 I had to terminate both times. I was on HRT for perimenopausal symptoms and didn’t think I was ovulating at all let alone twice on both those cycles. Dh had a vasectomy after the second termination, apparently in 40s multiples are more likely

Being as someone who has a relation who had 3 children after 40 I'd say that was a pretty stupid assumption.
