Visitors on Christmas Day

Do/did you have visitors on Christmas Day? Not relatives/friends you invited, but ones who just turned up? One of my in-laws turned up at 10.30 last night, with a card! I went to bed and left my husband to answer the door

I'd have felt terrible that I hadn't invited one of my in laws, who lived alone and only had one friend, to Christmas dinner at my house.

On the contrary, we had this relative here for dinner on occasion before - there were complaints about the food, our pet, the house being too warm, the tv programmes, etc., etc. This person is 60 years old, has got grown-up sons and daughters who all share the burden of hosting (and it is a burden), yet arrives empty-handed and hasn't had anyone to their house for 11 years, not even once, for a cup of tea.
