Feckity, feck, feck. Not been looking forward to today at all, but, hey ho, we make the best we can. Fuckety boiler packed up at 1pm. No heating, no hot water - what a twatty thing to do, utter moron 🤦🏼‍♀️ thank god the oven was still working.

Your boiler sounds like a cunt op. Sorry for your bad luck

socks1107 · 25/12/2025 22:35

Yes that is rubbish! Hope it’s sorted soon

CalmShaker · 25/12/2025 22:36

Sorry to hear, hopefully an easy fix.
Have you tried giving it a whack in the side?

CoastalGrey · 25/12/2025 22:36

Same here, engineer came out at 5pm yesterday but didn’t have the part needed 🫣😩

Sharpzebra · 25/12/2025 22:37

If it helps my meat was ruined and had to be binned no back up ended up having a takeaway not what I wanted but never mind

Cherrysoup · 25/12/2025 22:41

One of my bugbears for years! We finally had the boiler replaced and it immediately failed, multiple times! Finally the manufacturer came out and diagnosed a faulty part, but bloody hell, endless issues! We’ve at long last got heating that works, I’m delighted. Incredibly poor timing, OP. 💐

I feel your pain. Ours packed up on the 23rd. Luckily a man could come out to look at it on the 24th. Unluckily, he couldn’t fix it. Luckily, he’s coming back on the 29th to install a new one. And he helped DH figure out how to use the gas fire in the sitting room so we have one warm room. We go to my mums place to shower and we’ve told the teenagers that this is what it used to be like in the olden days, when people didn’t have central heating! Good luck to you with yours!

Skippydoodle · 26/12/2025 08:27

Thanks all. Engineer coming tomorrow morning, I just hope he has the parts needed on the van 🤞🏻

Sympathy and solidarity.
Ours had to be replaced at the weekend- not the Christmas present I was hoping for.

autumnboys · 26/12/2025 09:00

We had ours replaced 24/12 after over a week without. Boilers apparently don’t have a festive spirit.

TheaBrandt1 · 26/12/2025 09:00

We had this with our downstairs loo being blocked Christmas Eve 2023 just before 14 guests arrived to stay for 3 days. Water company were fantastic came within the hour and worked out block was in their bit and fixed it. Could have snogged the guy. Why did that have to happen then?! Any other day of year but no Christmas Eve.

When the first post nails the type of supportive, annoyed-on-your-behalf response you're looking for. Well said.

Hope your day turned out ok OP

Skippydoodle · 26/12/2025 15:24

I’m just hoping it’s fixable. As I have a bill coming my way that I can’t afford.

1st post was cracking! Day was good, we luckily have a small fire grate in the sitting room (PIL’s really feel the cold - and the rest of the house was bloody freezing). Washing up for 8 guests took for bloody ever, the kettle will probably pack up tomorrow, it’s never worked so hard!
