Unwanted presents

Unwantedpresents · 25/12/2025 19:25

I feel so bad when I get presents I won't use.

My DD13 got about £200 worth of clothes from a family member from M&S. Half of that stuff she told me that it's not her style to wear. I also got some skin care from M&S and I'm extremely sensitive to most skin care.

I feel bad but I'm wanting to take it back and get a gift receipt instead and allow my DD to choose clothes she would wear. Said family member who got the presents wasn't there when we opened them but we said thank you for the gifts on video today.

Anyone else feel awful with stuff like this? Christmas is over whelming enough as it is.

Just ask for a receipt

Needmorelego · 25/12/2025 19:28

Do they even sell clothes for 13 year olds 🤔
(other than school uniform)
If you can return it for a gift voucher then do that and save that for buying school uniform.

Just say clothes don’t fit and need to change sizes could they send over the receipt. Easy peasy.

Yes they do. Children's clothes go up to age 15-16.

Yes they do, some clothes are actually lovely from there that I wish they did them in adult sizes 😂😂

Well I hope they're not as boring as the adult stuff 😁

Just a polite messsge asking for gift receipt as some of the clothes weren’t to her taste plus the skincare won’t be used as I’m so sensitive I need to stick to what is tried and tested for me.

The thing is if you don’t ask and pretend all is well then the waste will continue year on year.

CornishTiger · 25/12/2025 19:45

And seriously stupid for anyone to be buying clothes for a 13 year old girl who is just developing her own styles!

Howardyoudo · 25/12/2025 23:10

Just say some of the clothing doesn’t fit so you want to exchange sizes. And also hopefully the skin care is on there too

Hello39 · 25/12/2025 23:12

And then say they didn't have the right size in it so she luckily found a different item in the right size and loves it, thanks very much
