A bit more info needed really

Thepoweroflove777 · 25/12/2025 13:08

Spoken to as in just given a “words of advice” rather than a caution

Eh?

BillieWiper · 25/12/2025 13:12

Well I guess the victim should ask the police and they'll tell them what they can.

Depend on circumstances. If I'd had a parcel nicked from the front doorstep, I wouldn't expect a police visit to tell me they'd caught the thief and given him or her a warning.. For a serious crime, I would expect to be told about when the case is going to court.

Netcurtainnelly · 25/12/2025 13:47

No. The police wont give this information.

Serencwtch · 25/12/2025 15:59

Completely depends on the crime & circumstances.

You can contact 101 or contact your force via their website & request that the officer in charge contact you. Your force will also have a victim & witness care team who may also be able to help.

I’ve had to make a number of police reports in the past year or so. Police tend to update well in my experience and will give info on whether charges will be brought or NFA. They will explain their reasoning for not progressing it, if applicable. If you have a CRN you can call for an update but typically the officer in charge will get in touch.

They usually will if it's domestic abuse so that the victim can have safety plans in place. I'm not sure about other crimes.

I had a very bad experience with that. I reported the domestic abuse that was done to me and they didn't even believe me. It was a specialist domestic abuse officer too.
