What if he was purely a figment of Scrooge’s imagination in his dream? What jf Scrooge woke up, bought the Turkey and toys, popped round to the Cratchet’s and there was Bob and Mrs Bob with no kids but enough money for a nice dinner?

That would be a plot twist.

When Scrooge arrives, there isn't enough for dinner, due to the poor wages he has paid. Mrs Cratchet, isn't amused but plays along. Cooks the dinner. Over dinner she reveals that they tried many times to have a family but due to the COL and poor wages they couldn't afford to expand.

She then brutally murders Mr Scrooge, for the life he took away from her. As her husband is a frog he does nothing to assist his boss.

What if the Cratchets are con artists and are playing the long game?

They spike Scrooge's drink, to induce the dreams, and have already done away with his partner's. Mrs Cratchet was the main house keeper.
She did away with the hiers in early childhood making it look like accidents. @MyTattooIsBetterThanYours

Absolutely. They move into Scrooge’s house and take over, disinheriting the nephew in the process. And they all thought the Cratchets were nice.
