Just that.
My 2.6kg crown is now unwrapped and covered in the fridge - it needs a minimum of 48 hours.
Can be done more quickly at room temperature but that’s not as safe.

Thanks for this. I have a joint of beef to cook on Xmas eve and would have forgot to defrost tomorrow.

Hagnumber4 · 23/12/2025 06:06

Ive literally only taken the turkey out because of this reminder! It wouldn't have happened otherwise! Thank you!

Drivinghomeforchristmas25 · 23/12/2025 06:09

Done. Thank you!

notcomfortable · 23/12/2025 06:11

Is it the same for chicken? I really have no room in the fridge 🥲

wandawaves · 23/12/2025 07:05

Omg thank you. Jumping up to do it now.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 23/12/2025 07:09

Thank you. Just taken my turkey crown out if the freezer and popped my gammon in the slow cooker. 2 jobs ticked off today's list.

My turkey crown from Iceland is cook from frozen.

No space in the fridge to defrost anything so ease all the way for me.

Good luck and happy defrosting everyone else.

Anywhere cool will do, depending on outside temperature, could it go in a shed or cold porch (well covered obviously!)?

Cleikumstovies · 23/12/2025 08:37

Yesterday the turkey came out - of the freezer and into the fridge. Out and Proud 🌈 🦃 🌈

LadyDanburysHat · 23/12/2025 08:41

Thank you. I remembered mine before I got up this morning, but then started work and forgot, taken it out now.

OFHelp · 23/12/2025 09:45

Mine is also now out and in the fridge thanks to your reminder. Mine can be cooked from frozen but it ideally suggests a 48 hour defrost so im just in the nick of time! Thank you OP!

FourForksSake · 23/12/2025 18:46

Mine has had 24 hours defrosting in the fridge and still feels frozen solid!!

Hagnumber4 · 24/12/2025 10:59

Mine is safely relaxing in the porch 😆

TheChicDreamer · 24/12/2025 11:05

Thank you! I was about to scroll past this as we’re having fillets of beef, but just realised they’re still in the freezer and need to come out today! They are now out 😰

ManyPigeons · 24/12/2025 11:14

Instructions for defrosting turkeys are lies, it’s never done in time when defrosted in the fridge

FourForksSake · 24/12/2025 23:43

Ok, anyone still not started defrosting? Shock
