Not happy. I know they trail hunt but they still take dogs and have their fair share of the sabs.

Dead right.

The thought of any terrified animal being ripped apart makes normal people feel ill. There is definitely something seriously wrong with people that enjoy seeing animals suffer or being killed, psychopaths normally start with animals first.
No I’m not saying people who hunt for “sport” will kill people but there’s definitely something wrong with them.

Yes
A few human runners ( who chose to take part of course ) set off running
and a while later the dogs and riders set off after them

The runners run at the same time as the riders and dogs just with a bit of a head start

Hope you don’t mind explaining

so
the dogs don’t attack the runners?

I don't think all problems will be solved by clean boot hunting, and some dogs may find something more interesting to chase, but this should be at a much reduced rate.

In theory, it's fun for the runners, fun for the horses, riders and dogs. No one dies. It might even encourage new people into the sport.

If that too is used as a smoke screen, then in time that will also be banned no doubt, but it gives hunting another (final!) chance to get its house in order.

I agree
It will still be disruptive but at least humans won’t run across roads and motorways
Time will tell if animals are hurt or killed

Just riding out with no dogs on a hack would be better
We’ll have the same issue, I would think, with bloodhounds being bred and killed young

Miranda65 · 29/12/2025 15:59

OP, I think it's fine. Couples don't have to agree on everything. So, for example, you might vote for different political parties.
Wouldn't it be boring if we all thought the same about things?

Trail hunting is perfectly legal, and an important part of rural life.

Of course, you don't have to go with him - just find something that you would like to do instead.

True, but even as a non-rider/hunter, I can see that there's a thrill in an actual chase. In the same way I can see there would be even more of a thrill if you actually catch something at the end, but most people's sense of morality would override the excitement of that.

I think giving clean boot racing a good try to see if it's a compromise could work. It's also quite exciting for the runners, trying to outwit those in pursuit!

Someone posted earlier that the runners would be doing it with consent, and for a moment I thought 'well duh, because otherwise, how terrifying would that be', but of course that's what animals have been put through by this whole process.

A poster on another thread said the blood hounds just slobber all over them
I assume this is true as who would volunteer to be a runner

😂😂😂😂😂

Attacked by dog kisses.

Maybe if the dog catches you, you have to become its owner 😂

Would solve the problem of eventually rehoming the dogs.

Agree
I might volunteer and just run to the pub 🤣🤣🤣

Personally I find a good hack exhilarating enough

I hope he has a good day. Nothing wrong with Trail Hunting except they make a bit of noise as they go through. 24 hours later all will be serene.

Ally886 · 29/12/2025 09:47

As someone that does this every winter, I have had no fox related incidents. The reason being trail hunting and most certainly clean boot hunting uses different dog breeds who would do well to catch a fox, let alone harm it.

You are confusing/conflating trail hunting and drag hunting.

Clean boot hunts use bloodhounds and the natural scent of a human quarry.

Drag hunts follow an artificial scent like aniseed and normally use either bloodhounds or cross breeds. It is possible to train a fox hound to drag but less common. Bloodhounds have a very low prey drive and are too slow to catch a fox, they are bred to track not to catch and kill.

Drag and clean boot hunts are governed by a separate organisation MDBA, they hunt on a Sunday (unlike fox hunts), pre-plan their route consultation with landowners, and publish their meets. Most were operating this way pre-ban.

Trail hunts are the remnants of old style hunting, using the same breeds of hounds (mainly fox hounds) and governed by the MFA.

No. In the same way search and rescue dogs don't attack lost hikers when they find them.

Clean boot hunting uses bloodhounds. They aren't bred to chase, catch and kill. They have a low prey drive. They are bred for tracking, and are big softies, they are so focused on the trail they ignore the wildlife and when they catch the runner he or she gets lots of slobbery kisses. It is a game to the hounds, just the same as search and rescue dogs, drug detection dogs and explosive detection dogs believe they are playing a game.

Bloodhounds are normally fairly easily rehomed as pets if they don't take to life in a clean boot hunt.

crazeekat · 29/12/2025 17:10

Honestly that would be divorce. It’s animal abuse.

This is what it boils down to really but all the closet psychos will try and detract from this with pointless comparisons, disingenuous defences (oh trail hunting NEVER hurts any animals) and loads of whataboutery.

Just admit it, you find it enjoyable. Weirdos.

MrsCarson · 29/12/2025 17:19

I wouldn't be against him trail hunting. It's not fox hunting. So many people turned out to support the hunt this year.
We are country people, I have done mock hunts as a kid, we didn't join the big hunts back when it was legal, but I would have joined a trail hunt or clean boot hunt when older if I'd still had horses and was able.

StandingSideBySide · 29/12/2025 14:58

You are wrong they are called
’pinks’
but red in colour
also for @CruCru who was correct !

Thank you! I have seen them in person and they definitely look red … but I didn’t know that they were called pinks. Most riders wear plain black or navy jackets (although children wear tweed with a back protector).

Theres a lot more wrong with trail hunting than the killing of 3/3200 foxes every year and a minimum 3000 foxhounds shot by the hunt

‘Three Counties Hunt Saboteurs reported two incidents of hunts causing carnage on roads last week, risking both dogs’ and drivers’ lives. This should be a stark reminder to the Labour government: the Hunting Act needs urgently changing to ensure that hunts are prosecuted for their reckless behaviour.

On 6 November, the sabs reported that Worcestershire Hunt

  • hounds ran at full speed onto the B4090 in Worcestershire.
  • In the same incident, one dog was tangled in a barbed wire fence,
  • and another was reportedly hit by a vehicle.

The sabs stated in their HIT report:
“This was the exact line a fox was seen taking when we sabbed their cub hunting meet a few weeks ago. - Hounds could be seen by sabs hitting the road in full cry as cars and lorries had to do emergency stops. It was carnage.”
They continued:

  • “One hound was heard screaming pitifully for a very long time. It turned out he was upside down caught on wire and was cut out of it by hunt supporters.
  • Other hounds were running up and down the main road bewildered. Sabs, some supporters and staff worked together to try and get the loose hounds safe.
Other supporters seemed to find it amusing..?????!!!!

In the meantime many drivers and villagers in Bradley green and Feckenham were very upset as hounds were all over the place running in different directions.

We had a report that a hound had been hit by a car in Feckenham. Road users,
hounds,
villagers and
wildlife were all put at risk by the Worcestershire Hunt deciding to hunt foxes today.”

They don’t pick up foxes at all (wrong kind of country) but they will pick up hares if about. Though given the pair of ex pack hounds I’ve got they’re fairly shit at it.

You and your dh should read "Raising Hare". Just bloody leave wild animals alone.

Yep
She was sacked from her job

Nasty piece of work
The video shows her abusing slapping and kicking the horse
She should have been locked up or put in the stocks

I’d prefer stocks as they all harp on about the importance of tradition

There’s not much that would be an instant “leave” from me but this is one. Tearing up the countryside, dogs usually out of control, blocking roads, killing innocent animals that the dogs come across and generally being posh bellends.

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/12/2025 22:27

FuzzyFelt85 · 29/12/2025 09:39

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Dogs (pets) rampaging around livestock and killing it is not right. This does not mean that trail hunting resulting in the death of foxes is right. Both can be wrong. These desperate barrel-scraping comparisons (someone earlier tried to argue that killing foxes is fine because sometimes people hire rentokil for rats??!!!) prove nothing.

Sorry. Not getting your point. I’m absolutely against fox hunting 🤷‍♀️

JohnofWessex · 30/12/2025 07:26

If we ignore the fox for a moment, hunting is basically Posh Football Thugs and associated with a lot of 'anti social behaviour'

How would you feel if he became a football thug? Well Hunting is the same or worse

SpaceRaccoon · 30/12/2025 07:59

Tattiana · 28/12/2025 22:25

To be fair no one needs to be hunting for food in the UK 🫤

If you want to eat meat, an animal needs to die regardless. Living completely free range and dying swiftly from a bullet is probably about the most ethical way you do that.

Nobody said that they had zero issue with animals dying cruelly by other means. You made that up - and keep repeating it - as you don’t have any proper arguments in favour of trail hunting, or evidence. People have repeatedly asked you questions (eg why do so few trail hunts actually lay a trail) which you ignore and keep repeating your straw man / made up points.

And as for your last sentence - Fox hounds are routinely shot by hunters.

Edited

Yet only one person has said that they don’t condone these things in response to my questions. Rather weak don’t you think when so much energy is poured into having issues with people acting within the law?
