Politicians you wouldn’t want to slap (even metaphorically?)

In contrast to the slap-worthy crowd…

Are there politicians - past or present, who you genuinely wouldn’t want to metaphorically slap, even if you don’t agree with everything they stand for?

Could be because they seem principled, thoughtful, competent or just not annoying.

Mine would be:

  • Angela Merkel - calm, serious, no theatrics
  • Barack Obama - flawed but measured and respectful
  • Jacinda Ardern - led with empathy under pressure
  • Rory Stewart - occasionally irritating but sincere
  • John Major - dull but not slap-inducing

AIBU to find it interesting who doesn’t trigger that reaction?

I'd agree with that list.

I also think there are a lot of genuine, hard working local MPs that I've appreciated over my lifetime, and wouldn't want to slap. All those (the vast majority in the House) that most people will never have heard of.

I wouldn't exclude Jacinda Ahern from my list.
