My GP referred me for an ultrasound at the beginning of October because of stomach pain.

About 2 weeks after my scan I checked the NHS app and I noticed my results weren't on there so I rang the surgery. They said I should ring the hospital to chase, so I did and they said they sent the results to my GP electronically via their ICE system on the 18th November, the same day as my test, but they would resend them.

A few days later the results still weren't on the app so I rang the GP again. No they still didn't have them but the receptionist said they would send a message to the GP who referred me to let them know.

After a week I still hadn't heard anything so I rang the hospital again, they said they couldnt tell me the results, but were happy to email them to the GP if they request them. I did an ecousult to let the surgery know, and provided them with the direct phone number so they could ring and sort it.

That was 11 days ago and I've not heard anything back from the GP.

I not sure what the problem is, the hospital comfirm they have my results and have sent them to the GP. I'm not sure how results sent electronically go missing? But even if things can go wrong - once you've notified the surgery of the error shouldn't the surgery sort this out ASAP, given the results have been awol for over a month now and it's potentially delaying my treatment 😐

That’s awful OP. I would raise a complaint with your doctors. They should be far more efficient at getting another copy of the results!

Was the u/s referral made under a 2WW (2 week wait?).

Call the GP? It's obviously not good enough, but if they've not acted on the econsult it's the obvious next step.

Although I'd take it as reassuring, as if something showed the hospital would probably have chased it with the GP.

No it was a routine referral so no concerns about cancer at least.

I can call again, but I just speak to the receptionist who says they will pass a message on. And I'm not sure they actually are, or if the messages get read. You can only speak to GP for health problems not admin issues.

I would speak to PALS at the hospital and they should be able to help you. At this stage, there is no way to know if it’s the hospital not sending results or gp not receiving due to incompatible systems. Both teams should be working together to make sure your scans are accessible.

You call and ask to speak to the practice manager, Don't be fobbed off. My husband had to do this once.

Don't really want to complain, but looking like it might come to this. How annoying!

I’d assume it’s some kind of admin error, have you changed your name (marriage) or address or anything lately? When my youngest was born the hospital had him registered under my maiden name but I’d registered him at the GP under his dads, resulted in his heel prick tests results not coming through correctly (poor baby almost had to have it 3 times before the midwife clocked what had gone wrong!)

Request the copy from the hospital and hand deliver it to your gp. But absolutely shouldn't have to

whyyousohollyjolly · 21/12/2025 22:14

I've had the same name and address for over 10 years, nothing has changed to account for an admin error.

The hospital won't give me the results, they said they can only send the results to the person who requested the test i.e. the GP!

I'm familiar with the process. I meant call the GP surgery and chase up.

Are you still having stomach pain? If so, you could book a GP appointment with those symptoms and explain to the GP directly about the admin error.

Goldengirl123 · 22/12/2025 10:26

If the results are on the ICE system then you wouldn’t see them on your app. Tell the receptionist to look on ICE as she may not be aware of it

whyyousohollyjolly · 22/12/2025 11:38

I think I would see them on the app once the GP has reviewed the results and added to my record?

Call the GP and speak to the Practice Manager, don't be fobbed off, ask them how they are going to get your results.
