Not to enjoy awkward gathering at daycare?

My daughter's daycare had a holiday gathering and each family was asked for bring in something from a list for everyone. Parents were invited.

The parents were not allowed to partake in the food and just had to sit there while their child and daycare workers ate. We brought in enough for everyone (that included the other parents!!) and saw everyone else did the same by the amount of snacks in each bag/box.

Would you find this strange? We were not even offered water.

Thats really quite strange and awkward.

Weird ! What was the actual point of the gathering?

Presumably for the children to celebrate with their friends and parents?

I would just take some for I am an adult woman

Why did everyone just obediently sit there?

Because the bags of food were behind one of the daycare workers who was standing and eating, about 15 ziplock gallon bags for 10 children and 3 workers

Also no food was sent back home with children (for example we brought in 3 lbs of cheese cubes and maybe 1 lb was eaten). Presumably it was thrown away
