Addicted but can't quit

I discovered mumsnet by accident. I was searching for a particular topic some time ago and one of the links that came up was a mumsnet page. I don't have any children and live alone (so no in-laws) but I found the dilemmas that people find themselves in strangely compelling.
Some of the replies are quite useful too.
However, I have suffered from anxiety over the past couple of years and reading about difficult neighbours, troublesome friends, scams and all the other things that could go wrong are not exactly calming to my nervous system.
I know I shouldn't keep reading about these problems, but it is really addictive. Like driving by the scene of a horrendous car crash - you know you shouldn't look but can't help it.

Yes, you should stop looking at mumsnet if it is making you anxious.
No, it's interesting and could give you some creative ways of dealing with any CFs you might come across in your own life.

You should definitely stop.

Its like anything else ..if you can't moderate it or it is affecting you giving time to other things in your life, its a problem. You at least take a break, then work out what's reasonable.

Think of it as being like the news - it doesn't get reported on when nothing bad happened in X town today. Same with MN posts - people don't post about how everything's good with them right now. And maybe he a little more selective about what kind of threads you read?

I feel the same. I spend way to much time here and it is not good for my mental health.
