To buy ready made food for Christmas?

Honestly, I’m exhausted. DH and I work in a physically demanding job. We are working until late on Christmas Eve and have been working 7 days a week so we’ve got enough money to cover us for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

We are going to PIL for Christmas Day but we have to take our own food because we’re vegan and they aren’t.

Would IBU to take a ready made vegan roast and a tray of ready made veg? I just CBA to make everything from scratch. I’d rather spend some downtime with my DH and DC.

I’m an excellent cook, but I’m exhausted.

Yeah, we won’t be going again. Growing up we had amazing Christmas dinners and, even though we’re vegan, I want that for our DC. As someone said, most of the meal is vegetables.

We went to friends yesterday and provided half the meat and sides. They like everything quite fancy, so we did our duty and prepped fancy everything.

ILs came round today and I made a turkey roast and fresh sides.

I spent more time on my feet moving around doing half the food yesterday compared to a whole fresh roast today. I'd say we spent about 1.5h total spread through the day on the dinner.

And I think a simple unfussy roast is a thing of joy.
