Why are some men disgusting when there is an audience

i don’t get out much for a drink, I prefer do more fun and fullfilling things than sitting in a pub (no judgement for anyone who does)

Same sex couple decided to go watch the football at the pub, standing outside , I was finishing smoke, lift was there we were going home then, was talking to 5/6 men 1 woman having the craic when they then realised I was a lesbian, all good until one man I hadn’t seen all night decided to make a sexual comment.
This annoyed me, as so what if we are together, it was homophobic, disrespectful and I shouldn’t let it annoy me.

It really shouldn’t be happening still in the world that a good night is dampened by one wee comment that makes a big impact. Life is hard and it shouldn’t be made harder by idiots who have an audience and think it’s appropriate to make disgusting sexual comments.

Just wanted a rant

Those sort of comments come from him being an arse and not wanting you to be in his space. He thinks women only exist for his personal gratification. Because you aren’t fitting that role he wants to diminish you. He is also doing it in such a way that he is trying to be funny or edgy or whatever and then the people that laugh are on his “side” so he is validated in that. They do it because they WANT you to be uncomfortable and therefore quiet you down by making you silent or making you leave.

I think the real question is why his mates don’t call him out on his behavior.
