What happened to fun teletext and games for kids on TV?

Call me weird but I'm 18 now and when I was 3, 4, even 5 years old. BBC Red button had a CBBC teletext page. I remember that there used to be a jokes page, there must have been some other pages but that's the only one I remeber about the BBC one. I also remember that Sky Text (an actual text channel on Freeview) used to always have a weekly quiz on page 222 I think it was. I think CBeebies teletext on Red Button used to have Birthdays, Stars of the week and some other stuff when I was a baby. Anyway I used to find a lot of these fun teletext things on the red button and Sky in my childhood. Now all you see on the red button is just the news, sport, weather and that's it! Sky text closed down ages ago too. Also red button used to have lottery results too but that's also gone. I have just seen there's a daily puzzle on there now but sadly it's just for adults. It's sad because eventhough it's December you'd think they'd do something to bring it back say an advent calendar for kids 25 days of new surprpsies. What happened to it?

It’s been replaced by the Nintendo Wii.

Um, phones, tablets, games consoles all happened to it? What child is going to look for jokes on teletext these days?

what a weird question.

I remember this but I was never allowed to use it. Parents would likely worry that they cost money.

You’re a bit young to remember all of this though.

The entire internet, better platforms to play games on, and teletext / ceefax no longer existing.
