Or so I thought, turns out DH has purchased Camembert earlier than usual.

Is it really worth suffering that smell? 😑

deffo agree on this! Smells
like rotten cabbage. Put it in a clip
lock box, it does help!

beadystar · 16/12/2025 19:23

It can’t go in the fridge without being boxed! The other foods absorb the smell. Just get a Pyrex box.

OilyRoundTheCogs · 16/12/2025 19:25

Get him to buy some Livarot. The smell from the Camembert will pale into insignificance.

YANBU

DH loves stinky cheese and I HATE it. He has to keep his cheese in a cheese safe outside the fridge where it gets even stinkier. ☹️

one year when it was very cold I put the cheese in the shed because the smell was too much

Surroundedbyfools · 16/12/2025 19:40

i only buy one if I plan on making baked Camembert so only buy it max one day before and wrap it tightly with loads on cling film then put it in a food bag tie tight then another food bag and tie tight ! No I don’t care about plastic

My theory with French washed rind/soft cheeses is the more unpleasant they smell the better they taste, and I haven’t been proved wrong so far ❤️

sprigatito · 16/12/2025 19:42

I knew this was gonna be about Camembert 😂

I’ve purchased a smell-proof case on Amazon for ours (presumably aimed at weed dealers). I’m hoping it will contain the stench.

The cheese would flourish beautifully in a shed and also provided a happy domestic situation also so all is good
