No! I can't wait for it to start!

Snowangles · 15/12/2025 22:31

No ! I'm waiting for it to begin !
I'm in my overwhelmed ,boxes everywhere phase at the moment.

Rockfordpeach · 15/12/2025 22:32

Nope, the lead up is tiring but i still love christmas

ChristmasHug · 15/12/2025 22:32

No, I feel its going too fast already, how can it be mid December?

Needs to slow down and be savoured.

andanotheryear · 15/12/2025 22:33

Yes. I don’t like being a misery but two weeks with both kids is awful, it’s dark, wet and cold, they have cabin fever, the tree is dropping pine needles and yeah

roll on spring

Maddyisqueen · 15/12/2025 22:34

Hell yeah!

Mismatchedshoes · 15/12/2025 22:36

I'm looking forward to Christmas being over and enjoying that week between Christmas and New year when I can relax and do nothing.

Christmas day with a parent suffering from advanced dementia is no joy at all (as much as I'll pretend it is on the actual day).

GrinchiestGrinch · 15/12/2025 22:36

Im terrified it will be over before I've had a chance to sit down and enjoy it. Work is insane, kids and me are all the time ill, there is a million things to do and worry about with some minor and some rather major. I always look forward to December but this year has been terrible. I haven't been able to do any of the christmas stuff I love. Mostly because of work. And everyone wants to do everutjing in december. I wish we could spread our christmas activities over 2 or 3 months. The super markets have got it right!!

Bahhhhhumbug · 15/12/2025 22:36

First Xmas after a family bereavement , dreading it , not doing it at all, treating it like a normal day, can't wait for it to be over.

PoppySaidYesIKnow · 15/12/2025 22:37

Yes, I enjoy the time off work, and always glad when Christmas Day is over.

Mooninjune · 15/12/2025 22:37

If things got back to normal after Christmas day I could handle things.

But then there's the awful week between Christmas and New Year. Followed by New Year itself which is so depressing - people celebrating when the reality is the coming year will be even worse than the one we have just had.

FuzzyWolf · 15/12/2025 22:38

No, not at all. DH and I both have a fortnight off that coincides with the DC being off school. We have very few plans and it will be lovely.

LoudPlumDog · 15/12/2025 22:38

Yes, this is my second Christmas without my darling daughter, she’s been gone just 13 months and the sadness is still here of course, this time of year makes it that much harder.

Same here - although I’m 3 years on

glad to know I won’t be alone 😞

So sorry for your loss, Christmas is so heart breaking for people who've lost someone but it must be a different level of pain losing your own kid, so so sorry for your loss x

Coffeeblanketandabookplz · 15/12/2025 22:46

I am trying to enjoy it but its all a bit overwhelming this year. I will relax into it once I'm more organised, I enjoy some parts but I always have this strange sadness as well. I feel sad for people on their own or who have lost someone. I've also got some family problems that always seem more intense at Christmas. But I make sure I have some peaceful moments too like a walk with the kids and dog.

Absolutely despise new years eve and will be glad when that is over

Four years since DP died on the 20th December, so there are Christmas reminders everywhere. It gets easier when everything is back to normal in January.

Littlebuddh · 15/12/2025 23:05

I never starts in my home.
The 25 is like anyother day.

mondaytosunday · 16/12/2025 00:10

No I love it and the lead up is the best part! We were to go abroad to see family (we go every other year) but my son couldn’t get time off work so finally got my head around a small Christmas here instead of a much bigger celebration. My daughter just got back from uni this past weekend and so nice to have her here. I love it no matter where we are and sitting here looking at the tree just makes me happy.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 16/12/2025 00:21

No, I can’t wait for so many things on the lead up to Christmas. Starting with my husband finishing work on Thursday, then it’s the Christmas food shop coming, we are going swimming on Saturday as a family and then settling down for the last few days before the big day. Excited to see the mugs we’ve all decorated and make hot chocolates in them, excited for the cinema on Christmas Eve, super excited to see the kids faces on Christmas Day and eat yummy food. I love Christmas with my little family. We also have a friend visiting inbetween Christmas and new years so will play board games as a family and really enjoy that.

I'm so sorry to hear that 😢. How old was your daughter when she died?

can you have a quiet day or do you have other children you gave to out a face on for?

Touty · 16/12/2025 00:56

Yeah this year I’m not bothering with it at all. Can’t wait for the Christmas tat to be out of the shops and the garden centers back to normal
