Year 7 Girls friendships

advice on how to handle these….D has settled in very well at secondary since September doing very well in class and teachers praise for her politeness and nice personality etc .. apart from niggles with close friend from ordinary school Dis branching out and making new friends but this friend is also hanging around with these girls. D understands this is normal and ive said you choose to hang out with her (hard as same tutor/lessons etc) but she does give my D a hard time and D feels like she doesn’t want to hang out with her but is stuck. She won’t move tutors etc (nor should she) but this girl is very stroppy and blows hot and cold and it very good at dishing out crappiness but doesn’t like it back - is almost very childish in the stuff she says annoys her i.e. using same picture they took together for profile etc/ when they got told off she talking she blamed my D and didn’t speak whereas D just said oh well we just got toldboff and moved on 🙄 D seems ok but I get fed up with hearing it and said to D I’m sure if this friend told anyone they would be like what’s the problem. Don’t want her ruining school for her I’m sure it’s normal maybe my
daughter tells me too much but I don’t want her being a punch bag or shall I just say sort it out girls!!

It's highly likely your DD is being a cow and so is this other girl. Stay out of it.

Omg going through similar dramas with my DD and it’s so stressful. I don’t know whether to just leave her to it or intervene

Yr 7 is all about finding their place, and for some reason this is really difficult particularly for girls.
My DD keeps being drawn back to friendships where the other girls aren't kind to her, and when I point out they aren't being nice she makes excuses for them.
My older children have told her that Y7 is intense for friendships but by next year things will be much more steady and people tend to have found their people and stick to them. I'm just holding out for the rest of the year, and offering things to do with positive friends.

Yup I have one in Year 6 here and the friendship stuff is a nightmare to navigate. No idea how to help you OP but solidarity 💪🏻

This is a godsend. My daughter is also in a similar situation in yr 7.

I am nit sure whether to contact school or see how it plays out come Jan?

Is this common? Year 5 was very hard for friendships but was hopeful that was all in the past. Am just worried my DC is too sensitive and cannot hold her own.
