To think parcel delivery companies take the absolute piss?

Next day delivery - can be days late but there's no come back because although you paid for it the time scale is just a suggestion on their part, not an actual commitment.

Delivery to your door - yeah, but as long as there's a picture it doesn't matter if it's someone else's door, in another town. Or, yeah but we chucked in vaguely into your drive way, but it was raining and we didn't want to get wet, and it doesn't matter that it was a card board box.

Fuckers.

Most of us try to order at a time when we will be in for delivery. That doesn’t work though, if no one actually rings the doorbell to alert you to the fact that they’re there, or if the delivery takes place on a day that it wasn’t due or you weren’t yet expecting it.

I took a parcel for a neighbour. She’d arranged delivery for a particular day. It was delivered five days earlier.

My parcel delivery person was meant to deliver my parcel a couple of days ago, didn’t show up, then marked it as delivered with no photo. No sign of it at my property and I was home. I contacted them and complained. They said it was probably a glitch and to give it 24 more hours to be delivered. Next day - same thing. I stayed near my door for the full new 2 hour slot. It then updated and changed from “out for delivery” to not being out for delivery and they just had it. I contacted the delivery company again and they said the driver had finished for the day - an hour before my parcel was due! Allegedly it’s being delivered today - I’m not holding my breath.

If you don't like it drive to a shop and buy things in person.

This is what we used to do for EVERYTHING not that many years ago.

Alternatively accept that the only way the online shopping can be as cheap as it is is by parcel companies paying virtual slave labour wages, and for that you're never going to geta rolls Royce service.

Er no, how about we actually receive the service we pay for?

Unbelievably they have done the same thing to me again today - another time slot for the same parcel and didn’t show up!

My username came from Uber eats leaving my hot food on the drive and not telling me.

Amazon and evri are no better. My front door & doorbell are a 2 second walk from my drive, but my drive is the preferred delivery spot.

Bloodyuber · 13/12/2025 21:37

And I've been in touch with Debenhams today to ask why the item i ordered 2nd Dec with express 2 day delivery hasn't even been dispatched yet.

Their live help still haven't answered my 3 day old question asking why they misled me.

Baahbaahmutton · 13/12/2025 21:37

MPs have written to Evri... That's how ridiculous it is now

k1233 · 13/12/2025 21:46

I'm happy with most of my deliveries except for one delivery company. So much so I continued complaining until they were dropped as a courier from somewhere I order regularly from. One of my recent Amazon deliveries was misdelivered. I buy enough from there that my distinctive front door mat and blind are in the delivery pictures, so it was clearly not my place. I reported immediately and it was replaced the next day.

We are recieving the service we pay for! We pay very little and get something of a service. If a parcel is lost or damaged we get a refund. If you don't like how it is, other options exist. And delivery drivers are exploited.

shellyleppard · 13/12/2025 22:00

I've had nothing but problems with deliveries lately. Parcel's left underneath my access ramp where I couldn't get them. A large box of bamboo toilet rolls left in the garden in the rain. The last one and the best......delivered to two streets away. Jammed down the side of a drainpipe,!!!

Sausagescanfly · 13/12/2025 22:10

On Monday, I was still waiting for a parcel that had been dispatched over a week previously, all in the UK. At about 6pm the delivery status switched from 'at our depot' to 'delivered', without ever going through the 'out for delivery' phase and my parcel was marked as being delivered at 8pm, so two hours in the future. I don't even understand how a system can allow you to mark something as delivered in the future.

Luckily, the supplier has dispatched a replacement. Unluckily, they are trying to use Evri again.

Supermarket deliveries are cheap and their workers on relatively low wages, you don’t ever see them dumping the food, or smashing it, or leaving it at somebody else’s house. The excuses you are making for them are very weak.

TroysMammy · 13/12/2025 22:39

I had to drop something off at work today, a business open Monday to Friday, 8am-6.30pm, and there was yet again another Evri parcel left outside the door. The area isn't the best, it's a bit dodgy to be honest. I took the parcel inside and posted on the work WhatsApp group.

We've had parcels not delivered, dumped by the Biffa bins belonging to the business next door, tracking not updated, blatant lies, extremely late parcels and I've even had to lay in wait after working hours in my car to ambush the courier for my parcel. This is all Evri.

No problem with Royal Mail, DPD and Yodel. They employ couriers with common sense.

Happyher · 13/12/2025 22:40

Have you ever searched for your address on google maps. Mine is difficult to find anyway as the even no’s are on one side of the estate and odds the other. I live @ no 12 but google maps showed my address to be where number 55 is. I’ve only just realised you can edit this yourself on google maps, which I’ve now done. If you don’t have a regular driver they may struggle to find your house

Bitofashock · 13/12/2025 22:43

I have lost a rug! They told me to check in the back garden. I think I would be able to spot a rug! Still waiting to see what the delivery company may have done with it. It definitely didn’t come through the letterbox which was the photo I got. And I have no front garden so it’s not there.

Bbc panorama on Evri coming up

I could broadcast my own programme on Evri shower of shit. It's a pity we can't choose which company to deliver our goods but to be fair the Evri driver for my home area is pretty good it's just the arseholes who deliver to my place of work in the city centre that are useless.

TheWytch · 13/12/2025 22:46

I found one in my coal bunker the other day - yes it was half full of coal too.

The parcel was not improved by having been in there for weeks.

StJulian2023 · 13/12/2025 23:08

I missed repeated calls whilst in a meeting at work between 2 and 2.30pm on Thursday - delivery driver was livid I wasn’t in because he had a long way to drive home. But I’d been given the delivery slot 4.30-7.30pm which he said he knew 🙄🙄

Northernladdette · 14/12/2025 11:31

One of the issues is that the delivery guys only get paid 50p per parcel. That’s a lot of parcels per hour to even earn to minimum wage.
if you’re having problems with deliveries, have them delivered to a pick up point .

ReturnsAdministrator · 14/12/2025 14:20

A lot of people don’t read the T’s & C’s.
I know I will be going into work tomorrow to a load of emails and calls from people who expect next day delivery from us, when in reality if they placed their order after 3pm on Friday it won’t be leaving us until tomorrow.
We explain this in the delivery section of the ordering process and again in the T’s & C’s that customers have to tick a box to say they have read and agree to before they can proceed to the payment screen.
People just don’t read what is in front of them.
Also, the couriers are always overwhelmed at this time of year. Not just with the volume of parcels, but with the road and weather conditions.
All it takes is a motorway closure to throw everything off.

JulieJo · 14/12/2025 16:41

I completely get where you are coming from.
Just had a dreadful experience with DHL when I sold a large item on Ebay. No option other than collection by DHL.
They tell you a time, don't arrive, when you check the tracking it says they arrived earlier than the time given, we weren't in or the parcel wasn't ready, this happened for 4 days running. We were in, they didn't attempt collection.
The next week, they told us a time, they didn't arrive, tracking says their van was full 10 mins after they sent the message.
For the next 2 days, no message but van was full.
Eventually Ebay agreed to pay for alternative postage.
I contacted the buyer, who thankfully was very understanding, DHL had been telling them for 3 days that the parcel would be delivered on those days even though they had never collected the parcel.
How on earth they are still a business I have no idea.

TroysMammy · 14/12/2025 17:41

Bugger, just found out the wonderful Evri man I mentioned above no longer delivers to my area. The information came from chatting to an up the road resident on the odd numbers side of the street whose parcel was left outside my front door further down on the even numbers side a few months ago.
