This is very boring but I don't know what to do with all my empty cracker/chocolate tubs.

I have just done a pre-Christmas sort out and now have a pile of empty plastic cracker/chocolate/sweets tubs that I've saved from previous years. I always keep them thinking they'll come in handy and have used a couple but the rest are taking up space I don't really have.
AIBU to chuck them in the recycling or does anyone have any brilliant uses for them? I'm going to end up with more after this Christmas too.

Unless theyre the metal tin ones, stick them outside for the recycling, someone might take them for arts and crafts

Or put them on olio for free in the meantime? xx

CMOTDibbler · 12/12/2025 19:37

I'd put a message on our local fb group knowing someone would snap them up

I always give mine to the school, they always have a use for them.

Some kind of art installation

You might win the Turner Prize.

I use mine for storing tealights, a sewing tin and literally decant new crackers in the cracker tin!

Cheepcheepcheep · 12/12/2025 19:40

Our school is always crying out for this stuff!

MoreMaths · 12/12/2025 19:41

We have someone locally who collects them for Tub2Pub supporting MacMillan. I think you can take to any Greene King site.

Do you have children in school? It’s the sort of thing schools are always asking for for junk modelling or our secondary has asked us to send them in for food tech (for the kids who forget to bring one in and need something to take their biscuits home in).

Thanks for this - I might save them for the new year. Macmillan were great with my DM and it would be nice to help them. 😊

Just DS in Year 12. Might be worth an ask though.

Put on your local buy nothing group!
I bake a lot so mine are in the freezer with scones, cakes, pancakes, all sorts.
Kids acquire them too for conkers collections, stones, spaceships, dolly beds etc

60sCoffeeTable · 12/12/2025 19:58

I put them on top of my kitchen cupboards, to use the dead space up there. I store cooking chocolate, chocolate chips, and spare spices in them. (Separately of course)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/12/2025 20:02

Sounds like hoarding. 😂
Please put them into recycling.
