To ask your go to couples gift that isn’t wine

I need to buy a few couples Christmas gifts, I want to use Amazon prime but don’t want to send wine since it’s a bit of a rigmarole with the drivers asking for ID and not being able to leave the package if they aren’t in.

Can I ask, what is your go to gift, that has a similar price point to a bottle of wine (£5-7) and can be gifted to a couple that isn’t alcoholic that doesn’t make me look cheap and isn’t a novelty item.

Box of chocolates

Olive oil, soap, posh condiments, posh crackers

I think at that price range it would probably be a good item. Chocs, retro sweets maybe, biscuits?

My go to gift is a board game (though that might say more about my friend group) but obviously that's not in the price range.

Olive oil was what I was thinking of too, but I couldn’t find one that looked nice enough to be a luxury gift that’s usable with a reasonable price.

a game - but I’m not sure about the game for two people in your budget.
fancy set of teas.
box of biscuits ( preferably shortbreads, I think you can get Walkers on Amazon)

Hot chocolate set

These are all great so far, please keep them coming!

Olive oil wrapped in a nice Christmas tea towel is my go to. Citizens of soil do nice ones.

I send snack hampers I go through one of the card companies though but Amazon also do them.

Unfortunately there isn’t really much that would be satisfying to give or receive at that price, truthfully … ‘Couples’ presents like EV olive oil; coffee table books; bare root roses; etc, generally cost more than that.

Books might be risky if they’re going to be dumped on a wet doorstep - but a paperback might be safely posted through the letterbox if they’re out.

Or you could browse the indoor plants section and see what’s closest to your budget?

Or - cheapest! - what about a plantable card, embedded with seeds, like this:
