So I’m recently seperated and have a christmas party tomorrow night with work something which I usually avoid, but this year I decided hell why not but now its come to it I’m nervous as hell! I never really went out without my husband while we were together so the thought of walking into the venue on my own, making conversation etc. really scares me!

I need some positive encourgement!

I don’t think this is necessary as it’s only an informal Christmas party!

@SadNutter def agree with the advice about getting there earlier rather than later as it’s less intimidating walking in alone and you usually have time to talk properly to a few people and form part of a group until you feel comfortable to move away or speak to your other colleagues who may not get there until a good while later.

Enjoy choosing your outfit and taking your first step back into your independence and freedom!

> that IS why it IS necessary - a test where it does not matter - you WILL probably have others to attend - you know what you have to do then. It WILL also get people talkin - your ego WILL get bigger - people talkin about you in a good way - that IS what you want If it goes t!ts up - it doesn`t matter it is not real - you will get the idea ...

Thanks everyone for the support! I actually really enjoyed myself, I talked, I laughed and I danced and just really enjoyed it! It reminded me how I used to be and who I am!

And this is what you have to look forward to for the rest of your life, @SadNutter - whether or not you establish other relationships.

Never allow yourself to become subsumed into oppressive coupledom again. No partner who truly loves you would want you to lose your independence and ability to have fun with other people as an individual.
