People who send chritsmas card of them and their kids witg generic short writed message

i remeber when holiday cards where more personalized to people u give them to but by a friend i just recieve a generic card with them and their toddler on focus with «merry chritsmas and happy new years to you and your closest!» and thats its. No personality to the card or where i save them up more than just putting them on the fridge til chritsmas is over and then bin. Im not saying people should write a whole bible on the card but cmon😂.

What do you write?

I’ve reread what you’ve written several times and I’m still not certain I completely understand what you’ve said other than you think people should write some individual in the card.

Something more personal about grateful for our memories and fun stuff we did togheter this year.

I have about 30 cards to write snd I just write best wishes in each. 🤷‍♀️

What's writed in your cards then?

To family and close friends I write something like To Mary & Joseph Hope you have a lovely Chistmas and a happy and healthy New Year Lots of love Holly Christmas & family members names.

To work colleagues , neighbours and friends via hobby places not close friends etc
It's just , To Mary Merry Christmas - Best Wishes Holly Chritmas.

See I’m with OP here, there’s basically no point just doing ‘best wishes’. Why bother?!

I only send cards to the neighbours, because they send them to us. It usually says something like ‘merry Christmas, from OopOop and family’. I don’t have any memories with them, or anything personal to write.
I don’t send cards to close friends and family, because I see them all the time and it’s a waste of a tree! I can talk to them about our memories 🤷🏻‍♀️

To reciprocate the cards sent to me. Literally the only reason I bother!

My MIL and a couple of DH other relatives enclose the horror that is the round robin letter, you would probably like that.

I’ve lived in different EU countries and the photo card thing with generic good wishes is very much the done thing in some of them.

I don’t see what’s wrong with it! People have gone to the effort for a start and it’s simply a “hello, happy holidays and best wishes for next year” greeting in concrete form.

They’re a waste of time imo and I hardly know anyone that sends them anymore. It’s so easy to keep in touch in other ways now that cards seem pointless to me.

I mean based upon what you’ve managed to write on here, I’d suggest that if you do write cards to anyone you keep them as short and succinct as possible….

Hope you use the correct spelling when you do send them or they will be just as judgemental of you.

Here in the UK it's very normal for people to write a short generic message in Christmas cards (but it's very unusual for the picture on the card to be a photograph of the sender).

Must say I agree with the OP (inasmuch as I understand it)- I really feel it's a waste of a card to just write "best wishes, Margaret" or whatever- I mean, come on, who cares?! Make it interesting!

I used to think this. Now i have a toddler and a partner with cancer I am 1) grateful to be thought of by others sufficiently for them to write, address, stamp and post a card and 2) massively smug to send any of my own with the correct names and addresses to arrice before 25/12.

They have a toddler. It's a miracle you got a card!

I’ll spell things correctly. I know that must be shocking to someone whose messages look like they were typed by a raccoon running across a phone screen

Whatever I write, I always check that the spelling and grammar are correct before I post it!

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying sorry @Meowmeowgirl .... but I am happy with any Christmas cards I get. DH and I only get about 25 these days, we used to get about 70 pre 2010s...
