To not know what to buy my 17 year old boy for Christmas? What are you getting yours?!

He has no interest in any hobbies and spends all his time on his laptop designing mini games and stuff! I kind of want to get him something that will fire his imagination but also some tech things he can use. Any ideas gratefully received thanks!

Has he got a drawing tablet? My 15 year old designs cartoons on his.

New ear buds, spare powerbank and a new record player ( so he can take one to Uni, when he goes) . I am also paying for him to learn to drive so that is part of birthday / Christmas too. My ds is in to tech too but by 17, I am not going to stumble across something that he doesn't already have / requested. Saying that, the keyboard hoover thing I got him went down well last year.

Does he need any extra stuff for his interest? External hard drive, drawing pad (like a PP mentioned), new software, a better chair for when he’s using his laptop…

I think at that age, it’s fine to just ask what they want and then get it. That way you know you’re hitting the mark with the gift and not wasting your money.

Driving lessons

Just to add - even if he’s not bothered about lessons, you could pay for his provisional licence - think they’re about £40 now. He’ll need it for ID shortly, always good to have.

A gaming monitor, laptop stand. We have previously bought gaming microphone, gaming keyboard, XL mouse mat, LED strip lights.

Clothes. Driving lessons. A driving experience perhaps? Off road? Cinema tickets. Go Ape. If there's one near you. Escape room.

Ours is having money, a Nike sweatshirt (a desperate attempt on my part to get him to rest the other Nike sweatshirt he would wear every day if allowed), a Bourbon biscuit tin as a joke as they’re his favourite snacks, and a stocking with lindors, a t shirt, and pizza cutter and grill tongs as he’s hopefully off to uni in September.

He games on his PC and has a fancy mouse etc already so no tech this year. He’ll be getting a lap top for his 18th.
