Out of curiosity. I currently have and can barely move.

I’m curious how you know you have both at the same time?

user86397409754 · 11/12/2025 19:59

I remember reading a while ago that you don’t have two viruses together as one virus will overpower the other and kill it off - essentially thats how viruses mutate.
I’m sure you feel rotten regardless OP, hope you’re on the mend soon.

BlueberryOats · 11/12/2025 20:02

You can get a dual test on Amazon.

I think I might have done.

I had to wrap a cloth tightly around my head because it hurt so much.

That's not true or you couldn't have a cold and a Cold sore. Or a cold and herpes.

Or HIV and a cold.

Covid IS flu!!

Because I've tested positive for both today.

This is misinformation. You can be co-infected like I currently am.

Yes painkillers have kicked in now but when I woke up this morning my head was agony. Weirdly my hips are the most painful thing at the moment.

My mum did two years ago, and she had sepsis from pneumonia at the same time. How she didn’t die was a miracle.

BorgQueen · 11/12/2025 20:17

Covid is a Coronavirus.
Flu is an Influenza virus.
Not the same thing.

Ouch. Your poor mum. So glad she pulled through. I'm nowhere near that bad!

The bone marrow in your hips are is large production of plasma (antibodies) and will be working hard to produce more plasma at the moment. I don’t know if this causes aching.

Fascinating! Love little facts like this! I sucked at biology...

Of course you can they are different viruses, co-infections often lead to increased severity of symptoms than mono infection and increased chance of hospitalisation.

Did you sleep through the pandemic or something? They are two different types of virus. Bloody hell.

I've had flu and COVID separately before but never had body aches like this before, even my jaw hurts and my eyes are watering like mad. So many different symptoms. I've lost so much weight too. Currently living off ice lollies.

I think it might be rage bait, as nobody can be this late to the party, surely!

Last time I had Covid, my hips were killing me, only cocodamol helped. I have a rotten virus just now that’s also causing vertigo, I haven’t tested.
Hope you get over both quickly 💐

Iris2020 · 11/12/2025 20:34

Yes. I wound up in hospital. It was brutal.

glovely · 11/12/2025 20:34

I think being a single mum who has to get a 6yo to school every morning is the worst bit. His teachers have been great though and have been meeting him outside so I don't have to go in the school gates (he has SEN!). But the early mornings are certainly exhausting!

Was it like a deep, intense ache? It's the worst bit for me. Worse than the fever/cough/stomach pain.

OP posts:
Mokeytree · 11/12/2025 20:42

Can I be nosey and ask why you tested for both?
Some people mention they've had covid or the flu in the last 6 months and I always wonder how come they know this but don't like to ask.

MCF86 · 11/12/2025 20:46

I haven't but my friends partner did and it sounded horrific. Took quite a while to bounce back, but I do think existing conditions played a part with that so fingers crossed it's much quicker for you!
