To ask if you have been to Gran Canaria and if you'd go back and if the flight was ok

Definitely, yes.

We went last year and are going back this year. The flight was fine (easyJet) and we loved the place

Flight was no different to any Canaries flight. It was ok but not my favourite island.

Great! Do you think las palmas would be a good base?

Which is your favourite? I have never been to any and thought this looked like an interesting starting point.

We did a week in a nice hotel in Las Palmas and explored the rest of the island from there. It worked well as we had loads of cool restaurants and bars etc near us, and the fun of being in a Spanish city, and weren’t trapped in a resort. But depends what you want from the break.
