You might just be exhausted.

Fidgety31 · 10/12/2025 14:40

Maybe your life is boring and that’s why you feel that way? Hard to say on the little info you’ve given?
depression is much more than just feeling bored .

Stompythedinosaur · 10/12/2025 14:41

No experience of pleasure in 3+ weeks is a marker for depression, yes. How's your sleep and your appetite?

Ivy888 · 10/12/2025 14:41

No that’s not a sign of depression.

It sounds more like exhaustion.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/12/2025 14:42

Is your life set up to serve others? Many middle aged women have that set-up and it’s shit.

NoelEdmondsHairGel · 10/12/2025 14:43

How much time do you spend scrolling? Can also be a sign that normal life doesn’t come with the same dopamine hits as being online.

BusMumsHoliday · 10/12/2025 14:44

It can be. There is often a question on depression screening tests about not finding joy in things that used to give you pleasure.

MrsZiggywinkle · 10/12/2025 14:45

Whats your set up in terms of work, family, hobbies, health?

My Dd

And is that temporary or is it permanent?

What do you do for yourself?

WheresBillGrundyNow · 10/12/2025 17:21

It could be anhedonia.

PigeonsandSquirrels · 10/12/2025 17:31

Yes, it’s called apathy. But there are lots of causes of apathy.

mindutopia · 10/12/2025 17:34

No, I’ve been depressed. I definitely didn’t feel bored.

But it does sound like you need to focus on building a life you love. I have 2 dc and I love them, but my life is definitely not all about serving them! What would you be doing with your time if a miracle happened and you no longer had to do all the things you currently feel like you have to do? If you could live any life you want to live, what would it be like?

You have to build a life that doesn’t bore you. It isn’t handed to you. Are there things you used to love that you don’t do anymore that you could start doing again? I started horseback riding and sea swimming again my 40s, which I hadn’t done since I was a child. Do you love to travel? Can you plan a trip somewhere exciting? Not everything has to be a big change and cost money. Did you love to paint and could you start painting again? Read books you love? Learn to cook Thai? There are things that can bring you joy, but you have to bring them into your life.
