Arsey grandparents in the queue

Hungryhippos123 · 09/12/2025 15:57

I am expecting to get my arse handed to me but anyway.
Went to Childs Christmas show- I work shifts so had to dash there after swapping with a colleague. There were a few people queuing (maybe 10?) and about 4 people ahead was a good friend of mine so I went and said hi. Later another friend arrived with her crying baby in a pram, it was raining for context. I said just jump in here and get inside as baby was cold.
some grandparents behind us starting going ‘Eugh another pusher in’ etc etc. I said sorry you go ahead then but everyone will get a seat easily and she’s got a small baby?
I think I’m just grumpy as I’ve dashed from work to watch my child. They’ve had their kids I know they want to see their grandkids but if it was me (and I know my parents would) I’d let the mums and dads sit closer so they can see. As it was they were front and centre anyway so don’t know why they were moaning.
for context the child’s parents had been the day before so they aren’t the main carers.

I think you were rude.

Robertsmithsnan · 09/12/2025 15:59

YABU
First YOU jumped the queue.
Then you invited another parent to jump the queue.
I dont blame the others for being pissed off.

TheVengaBusIsComingMyBusPassIsForthcoming · 09/12/2025 16:00

Despite showing up earlier than you and your friend, they don't deserve the front spaces because they have had their kids?

Nah that would annoy me too. You were rude.

Daygloboo · 09/12/2025 15:59

I think you were rude.

The clue is in the word QUEUE

EuroTour · 09/12/2025 16:01

Yeah you're the CF. I'd call you out too.

DecemberGloom · 09/12/2025 16:01

As a jumper-inner you revoke any right to invite others to join you. That’s just the rule!

MyRealCoralPanda · 09/12/2025 16:01

Very very rude

TidyCyan · 09/12/2025 16:01

No, the ones who get there early and stand for half an hour in the rain get the best seats. You can't be that oblivious.

Terriblytwee · 09/12/2025 16:02

You were astonishingly rude.

MumbleBumbleAppleCrumble · 09/12/2025 16:02

How dare they!?! Did they not realise that they were stood next to the centre of the universe?

paradisecircus · 09/12/2025 16:02

I'm not completely sure of the relevance of the other people being grandparents - is this to diminish the validity of their reaction?

NewCushions · 09/12/2025 16:02

yup, you were rude and deserve to have your ass handed to you. You pushed in. You got someone else to push in. nd you seem to think that grandparents turning up to support their grandchildren should be treated as second class citizens over the parents. Ick.

AnotherDayDawns · 09/12/2025 16:04

You were a cheeky fucker, and encouraged your mate to jump the queue as well. As a grandparent myself, I'd have been pissed off as well.

FuzzyWolf · 09/12/2025 16:04

You were rude.

It’s also not necessarily about the grandparents having had children so not having the same right (as you appear to think) to get good seats but about young children wanting to know and see that someone is there for them.

YABU.

Hungryhippos123 · 09/12/2025 16:04

Haha ok I thought it might go this way.
I literally miss everything because it’s always short notice and I’m a nurse so my clinics are booked weeks in advance. I know this isn’t there problem and the queue is life but it’s just frustrating to always be at the back or not there. Also loads of other people ‘jumped in’ with their partners or friends and ahead of us so it wasn’t just me!

Quite.

yorkshiretoffee · 09/12/2025 16:04

I can't believe some people think you were reasonable!
It's hardly the crime of the century, but if you have turned up to see a show and joined a queue you should join the end of the queue. If you want to let someone through, you let them take your place and you go to the end of the queue.

gamerchick · 09/12/2025 16:04

Lol you pushed in and then invited other people to go in front of you.

The rest doesn't matter.

Ha, you queue jumped (everyone can spot the 'oh hi Jane's sidlers a mile off) and then invited someone else to join you? And you think they were unreasonable to be annoyed?!

Moggies3 · 09/12/2025 16:04

Rude

Celestialmoods · 09/12/2025 16:04

It’s irrelevant that they have had their time with their own children. It’s about the child being able to see them. It is also irrelevant that someone had a baby. You were rude to push in and even ruder to invite someone else to do the same.

Hungryhippos123 · 09/12/2025 16:04

paradisecircus · 09/12/2025 16:02

Not to diminish them but personally I would allow parents nearer the front when I’m a grandparent.

Dont be so stupid

Redpeach · 09/12/2025 16:05

Was baby cold? Really?

EINSEINSNULL · 09/12/2025 16:06

Is this a reverse? Nobody can be that self unaware.
