To just want to finish for Christmas now?

I have no idea what’s come over me today, but I honestly just feel bone weary tired (hope I’m not coming down with something) I just have no motivation for work at all (I WFH) normally I’m an enthusiastic and proactive worker, yesterday but more so today though I just feel done. We’re not that busy (Dec never is for us) but even the small amount of work that’s come in has taken a huge effort for me to do.

I usually walk the dog for an hour on my lunch, or if the weather’s really bad (like today) will go on our stepper machine and do some Pilates just so I’ve done some exercise.

Today though, the weather is foul but I can’t even be bothered to do any other form of exercise on my lunch. I feel absolutely exhausted and just done.

I finish for Christmas on the 23rd- 5th Jan and I’m so ready for this break. I think it’s probably not helped by the fact I haven’t had any annual leave since August so maybe accumulated fatigue.

But yeh, today I just DGAF and want to finish for Christmas already.

Anyone else feeling meh/ unmotivated?

You are not alone! I am planning to take some extra medical leave because I am so very tired. Hopefully from end of the day tomorrow.

Yes, I have a new role starting in Jan and so I am kicking around the house until then. It is definitely weather to hibernate through!

RoutineQueen3 · 09/12/2025 12:45

Also wfh and counting down the days until the xmas break! I break up on 19th - back on 2nd Jan wahoooo! Need a recharge and reset!

I work in a secondary school and I m counting down the days till we break up on the 19th. Tbh everyone is fed up of autumn term now and bone tired.
You are not alone

Yes today is so close yet so far from Christmas isn't it. Plus grey weather again. It's tedious.

Emmz1510 · 09/12/2025 22:58

yep. Plus the weather is so grim And grey that definitely doesn’t help!

Grumplechops · 09/12/2025 23:01

Absolutely agree. Work is like walking through treacle with so little motivation. Can’t wait for the Xmas break.

Mrsbunnychops · 09/12/2025 23:20

Snap!! Feel the same

ThirdStorm · 10/12/2025 13:54

You are not alone. I'm ready to finish now and it can't come soon enough as I've saved enough holiday to be off work between Christmas and New Year and it will be a most welcome break. The last couple of weeks have been so demanding.

Iloveleaveinconditioner · 10/12/2025 14:02

Very glad it’s not just me!

I have a bit more motivation/ energy today but still feel a bit affronted when someone dares send me any work, because, y’know, it’s Christmas Grin

Wishing Christmas Eve quickly for us all!

I work in a secondary too.The kids have had enough as well as us.Not long now!

Having had no time off since August I can see why you are weary and ready for a break.

I feel a bit like that by the middle of December every year but for me it’s because I can’t sustain the build up to Christmas that seems to start just after Halloween. I’m ready for it to happen now and be over next week 😬

TinselAndSparkles · 10/12/2025 14:18

I’m just sat here watching Corrie because I’m so bored 🥱

Maybeishouldcrochet · 10/12/2025 14:20

I also feel like this. I have had a break since August- but am a parent, work full time, carer for husband, have a child, and have started a uni course, and lost my dad since sept.... I feel exhausted and so ready for 2 weeks off!!
