In feeling pathetic and putting myself down for being single and miserable at 34 when Cher is getting married at 80?

She's getting married to a man HALF her age! And here I am, 34, putting myself out there and still as single as a pringle before the holidays, and my damn birthday tomorrow 😭😭😭😭😭

Personally, that doesn't sound very aspirational to me. It's highly, highly unlikely that this guy really loves her. He'll be in it for the money/fame.

Honestly though I don't think the lives that people like Cher live bare much resemblance to the lives that the rest of us live. But she like the rest of us , has had her share of unhappiness and troubles.

I don't know much about Cher at all, just that she's obviously an icon from her time and very wealthy. I was just SHOCKED at the fact that even Cher at 80 is getting married right now. I follow vedic astrology, and apparently, we're going through a cycle of love and romance and I am seeing it literally all around me, besides my own life. Which is just amazing for me lol😭

I’m glad she found love but I do think getting married is absolute madness, I don’t know why anyone would do it more than once!!

Enjoy being single. If you are doing your best to meet someone then there is no more you can do. Just enjoy yourself and hope for the best.

Just a quick question for you, has anyone ever ever, in your entire life said to you ‘oh I highly recommend getting married, it’s brilliant, 5 stars!!’

Getting married won’t give you that? Maybe one or two years of it and then you are tied to them for all eternity, whether you like them or not. CHOOSE VERY CAREFULLY.

If it offers you any hope, I got married at 42, had first child just shy of 43 and second at 46. If you want to hook up with someone, just get out there dating, hanging out with work colleagues etc and happy birthday for tomorrow. 😎

I just ended a major 3ish year relationship in May. I thought he was the one but the relationship didn't mean as much to him as it did to me. My heart was shattered and I am just now getting over it. So I am DONE with trying to meet men honestly. I think that's the problem too...

I want someone to really approach me, with intention, to date/pursue/marry, otherwise I don't want to bother with these low effort guys anymore.

This is exactly why I broke my own heart and left the a man I really thought I loved back in May. It turned my reality upside down but boy was I wrong about him and I only really found out AFTER I ended things! I am soooo glad I did not waste another moment with him.

No dissing of Cher! She is an icon. But don’t worry op, you still have plenty of time. 34 isn’t old at all - just keep putting yourself out there (as disheartening as it can feel sometimes)! Do you like sports at all? Running / cycling / triathlon clubs are full of men who are generally quite decent (outdoorsy, motivated, interesting as they like to do things) so that can be a good place to meet people if you are struggling to meet anyone… just an idea (you might not be remotely interested though if you aren’t an outdoors kind of person!)

I have been going dancing at a studio for a few months, but not as much as I should, so maybe I'll hit up a few group classes during the holidays :)

I also go to the gym regularly, but that has really not been a huge hit. I try to look approachable but I also know I have a massive RBF so I am not surprised that I am probably scaring off any guy that wants to come up to me lol

I'll look into some sports! That's a good idea! Does bowling count? 😂

If it makes you feel any better, MANY of us are putting ourselves out there, (single & not always loving it) and coming home alone to a dark cold house just to peel off the 'going out clothes' and say ...."well, there's always tomorrow"...

I know it's tough.
But I get the feeling that 2026 is gonna be your year!!!

Kim catrall just got married at 69 and looked fabulous doing so. Her husband is 54 and they've been together a while now. I heard someone say that should be the real AJLT ending in Samanthas world !
