Mumsnet being the ONLY site where ads freeze the page

Why is it ONLY Mumsnet?

Why haven't they figured this out yet?

The only other sites that do this are the tacky, super ad populated, fake news sites. Surely MN aims to be better than them?

There have been numerous threads in site stuff about this but I don’t think it gets enough traffic.
More posters need to be complaining because at the moment Mumsnet just keep trotting out the same old tired response ‘we’re working on it’ ‘we don’t know why this is happening’ ‘please send us a screen recording’ . Which of course they do know and are more than capable of testing this out themselves.

It happens here because mumsnet willingly enters into contracts with shitty, low-tier advertising networks. Everyone who works in the industry knows that those networks serve shitty ads plus - as has been seen on mumsnet time and again - malware and various other nasties. Mumsnet doesn't care. It makes them money and that's all that matters. The fact that Mumsnet takes active steps to prevent you from protecting yourself from the shitty ads that they send you shows just how much they don't care about you.

The only small ray of sunshine is that Mumsnet's outright greed is always tempered somewhat by its hopeless incompetence so its desire to prevent you using ad-blockers isn't terribly effective.

TL;DR - you get shitty ads here because it makes Mumsnet money and they don't give a shit about the risks.

Would an ad blocker help?

Mine kept doing this when using Chrome, so had to use Safari to look at MN. It’s rubbish really
