Do skin tags always bleed when you cut them off?

I had a sudden outbreak of skin tags on my neck. I’ve never normally had them before and about 7 appeared all of a sudden. I decided to have a go at just snipping them off myself, which went quite well and was relatively painless.

I saw something yesterday about how skin tags bleed a lot when cut. None of mine bled at all, so now I’m a little worried that maybe they weren’t skin tags. Is it true that they always bleed? Just seeking some reassurance.

What did you snip them off with? Sterile scissors?

I had one on my thigh area which got caught on fabric and partially pulled off- it bled. Google says 'They are made up of many components, including fat, collagen fibers, and sometimes nerve cells and small blood vessels'

So it does seem that that normally bleed. Considering you had 7 all appear at once, I would have had them checked before attempting home surgery.

Yes, sterile scissors. There was not a drop of blood from any of them.

They were all very tiny. Not sure if that would affect it.

I have health anxiety, so this is now triggering me. If anyone knows if them not bleeding is okay, I would really appreciate the reassurance. Thanks.

It is absolutely normal that some don't bleed. It just depends whether your skin tags had any blood vessels in them. And the fact yours were small seems even more likely they wouldn't have had blood vessels in.

And the google wording a previous poster put up put the small blood vessels after the word 'sometimes'. It doesn't say they would always contain them.

When the dc were small their primary school had a pamper evening, and a beautician was taking off skin tags. One of the mums I went with had 4 removed and none of them bled.

Depends how big they are really. If they're tiny they don't necessarily bleed, or if they do it's a miniscule amount.

I also had a time that I got lots of tiny ones on my neck . I just got hold of one of those plastic exfoilater bath things and gave them a good rubbing every morning in the shower and happy to say they disappeared in a couple of weeks , and never came back.

My DH had one over his eyebrow, it fell off, no blood. Skin tags generally grow and when they stop, blood flow stops so they can just fall off on their own. He was booked in to have it frozen off, but didn’t need to. Dear dog also had one under his front leg for over a year, that also fell off, no blood, no mark at all where it was, just a red patch for a couple of days.
