AIBU to have opened every window on my advent calendar

It’s worse than that, it’s two advent calendars!
I went to Boots to buy myself some hand cream and I impulse bought two half price advent calendars. Not expensive stuff but a treat to me, better than the basic supplies I usually have.
it was so much fun opening all the boxes.

They were yours to do with as you please and you enjoyed it. How could that possibly be unreasonable!

Berrydeliciousness · 07/12/2025 08:08

It was meant as lighthearted, It felt like a wonderfully decadent act. My kids would be horrified!!😁

Clearly they were faulty as all the doors fell open! A similar terrible occurrence has also happened in our house.

MyIvyGrows · 07/12/2025 08:20

If they were cheap and after the start of advent then absolutely not, congrats on the bargain!

when I was a student I came home a bit pissed one night in early December and opened all the doors and ate all the chocolate. Good at the time but felt very sad next day.

springintoaction2 · 07/12/2025 08:21

That is Terrible!! Shame on you @Berrydeliciousness !! Grin

We have multiple advent calendars in this house between me and adult daughter. We have been waiting each day for the other to get home from work etc before opening.... have even 'invented' a new verb - to advent 😄

I have sneaked a peak at number 7 this morning - and re-sealed. That's as far for cheating as I'll go.

hidinginthebathroomagain · 07/12/2025 08:33

Which ones did you get?

Blingismything · 07/12/2025 08:40

I bought an M&S Swiss chocolate one that was reduced and emptied the chocolate into a bowl yesterday. Almost bought the Sainsbury’s one but resisted.

Berrydeliciousness · 07/12/2025 08:50

Soap and glory and some boots branded one. A nice change from Asda shower gel. The bits I don’t use the children will like.

Im aware the beauty world is full of much more luxurious items but it was so much fun opening all the little boxes.

im liking the chocolate idea, hadn’t thought of that!

I feel a trip to boots coming on this morning. I Fancy a little treat

I've not opened any of the doors in mine so we've balanced each other out.

I think it's one of the benefits of being an adult. You can spend your own money how you like, within reason, so you can buy an advent calendar for the contents rather than to use as an advent calender IYSWIM.

You are also free to buy yourself things you want, for no other reason than you want them, as long as you can afford them. There is no need to designate them as a Christmas present or ask for them for 'for Christmas'.

I got the Bonne Maman advent calendar because I wanted to try the different jams and it was cheap in Costco. It will sit in the cupboard until I CBA pulling out all the little jams and when we've run out of the current jar of jam , I'll use the advent jars over the next few months
