I’m in wales but was told last week it’s currently 8-10 weeks for results.

I got told that they look at scans (in general) and put the dodgy looking ones to the top of the pile for a double check by senior staff and to do those urgent phone calls first.

So if that’s the case youve got nothing to worry about and no news is good news.

They are prob short staffed as many have flu and other seasonal things.

In my experience, the radiographers flag anything obvious to the radiologists to look at first.

When I had a mammogram and, unknown to me I had 2 x 20mm tumours, I got a recall by phone the following morning.

There is a backlog in some places for scans to be checked twice but generally, a slow response means there is nothing obvious. Some places are now checking with human eye. I'm sure it will be ok.

I've been told 8-10 weeks in England.

notionpotion · 06/12/2025 18:47

I’m in England but have them yearly and often wait longer than that.

TON618 · 06/12/2025 19:31

I waited 4-5 weeks for the results of mine, this time last year. The results were fine. My work friend had one at roughly the same time and her results were not good. She got her results much quicker.

ChocoChocoLatte · 06/12/2025 20:43

@ElatedFatballwhen I had mine, it flagged up and I was taken straight through for a biopsy. I’m in Scotland & the level of cancer care I’ve had is excellent, regardless of what the news reports.

please try not to worry, I’d hope if there was an issue, they’d be in touch straight away.

Isadora2007 · 06/12/2025 20:47

Longer is better. When I had a recall it was within days of my mammogram so be reassured by the wait. Scotland also.

Talkingfrog · 06/12/2025 20:51

I am south wales. Mine came through all clear in about 3 weeks, but I was told the results would be longer than that. It was a mobile clinic, so not sure where they were looked at. I assume wait could vary even in parts of Wales, depending on the number of screenings, staff, unless etc in each area. I would say of taking longer, there is less reason to be concerned.

JudgeBreads · 06/12/2025 20:53

Scotland here. 4 weeks to the day, no issues.

ElatedFatball · 09/12/2025 18:55
