Notice of enforcement

I’m getting letters for notice of enforcement it’s my address but some other lady’s name of the letter not similar to mine at all. They are not answering my calls and my emails are going unanswered. Please advise what do I here? It will be really embarrassing if they turn up to my door as I live in a very small community and nosey neighbours

I’ve had this previously with former residents of properties I’ve lived in. When they came to the door I didn’t let them in but showed photo ID to prove I’m not the person they’re wanting. They asked if I knew where they’d moved to. I said I didn’t (I actually did but it’s not my business). They didn’t come back.
You probably can’t avoid them coming to the property but you can be prepared.

Will this affect the credit rating or anything else for my property?

Have you opened post addressed to someone else? Isn't that illegal? I would just write 'Not at this address' on the envelope and put it back in the post box so it will be returned to sender.

I've had this over the past year from a littering fine, I've called every relevent department and done as requested and I was/still getting threatening letters. Recently I emailed the court and demanded a reply and for them to take my address off the file as it has nothing to do with me. I've had an email back saying they'll look into it but we'll see.

Also opening mail isn't illegal, using the information for nefarious gains is.

Bambamhoohoo · 06/12/2025 14:20

I would ignore them

it won’t affect your credit rating and it’s not illegal to open post in these circumstances

BillieWiper · 06/12/2025 14:24

How long have you lived there? I think if the person never lived there or has long gone just ignore it. Put RTS not known at this address and repost them.

If bailiffs come, show a redacted letter proving you are the tenant/owner. But don't let them in.

No, it's not illegal. It's only illegal to knowingly interfer with the post to cause damage to someone. Opening post sent to your address doesn't fall into that category particularly if it's just to let the people sending it know they're not at this address.
You can simply send them back 'not at this address' but it takes a lot longer to have an effect than a direct follow through.

No. Credit rating is a personal thing.

No. Credit rating is no longer associated with your address.
