Slightly gross - I forgot to lift the toilet lid

Slightly gross. I hope I'm not starting to lose it now I'm in my 60's, but I just forgot to lift the toilet lid before doing a pee! I've never done this before & I'm not drunk!
Lots of mopping up with dh wondering what the hell I'm doing at this time of night.
Do grown, intelligent women really do this?

Please don't feel badly, I'm about 15 years younger than you, female, not drunk, and I did this once.
My habit is to always have the toilet lid up, seat down of course but lid up,
and for some reason, the lid was down, I went to the toilet in the night, left the lights off as I always did,
plopped down, let go
and holy smokes, realized a fraction of a section too late,
but didn't quite have the kegels to prevent a mess...
It's okay. These things shouldn't happen but they do.
Life just gets messier as you get older so, got to laugh at these moments.
And of course, double check that the lid is actually up if you're not turning on the light at night..

Yup, done it. Twice. Once about two years ago for no known explanation. I was bursting and threw myself down without looking.

If you believe what you see on TV most women are walking around piddling themselves all day long so one accident is nothing by comparison!!

Thank god I'm not alone🤣 i think i was just so desperate i forgot about everything else 🙈

A family member did this one time during the night. These things happen.

I've done this when desperate for the toilet.

I’m 31 and I did this the other week 😂 I was desperate for a wee and I pulled my jeans down, must have thought I’d also pulled my knickers down too and realised too late that I was literally wetting my pants. Luckily I was at home but my husband was cracking up as I walked past to get a new pair of pants clutching my wet underwear 😂

I did this once too! I definitely wasn't losing it, as I was only about 20 at the time. I think I may have been over tired and desperate for a wee, and just just forgot to lift the seat in my haste.

Very very nearly, in my 30's, thanks to OH closing the lid which rarely happens. I think it was the shock of sitting entirely on a cold lid that managed to make me stop.

oh, I had norovirus, was up all night vomiting and yeah, half way through the night he shut the lid. Ran to the loo in the dark, couldn't hold it in and let's just say it goes a long way spattered off a toilet lid! But bless him, he cleaned it all up and ended up with the virus himself a few days later.

We rarely put the lid down

I was on my way to the train station for and got desperate so ran into the ladies at work but lid was down and said fark.

Honestly this happens occasionally! Too dark to see the lightswitch. And I was 20s.

Surely it felt different to sitting on the seat?

I'm not disbelieving you. I just don't think I'd be able to do it without realising.

Toilet in current home has a habit of the "soft close" closing itself as you turn round, so I've sat down heavily on a closed lit quite a few times now!

I did this in a porta potti at a festival. Hovered above the closed seat and peed all over my legs and shoes. Also done the sit down to wee without pulling my knickers down 🤦‍♀️

Men will wet the bed, wee in wardrobes and corners of the room then walk off like nothing happened so dont feel too bad!

I put the lid down everytime I flush!

I have sat on the closed lid at night when its dark, but it so obvious and cold that I've jumped straight off again. Never got the point of weeing on it.

@GaIadriel i did realise as soon as i sat down, but had got to the point of no return. 60 years old & 3 children does that to you 🙈

A very proper family friend confessed to doing this in a public loo. She was horribly embarrassed but recounted the story in such a funny way it was hilarious.

She was in a rush, wearing a long skirt and long trench coat. Dashed into the loo, hoiked up coat and skirt, pulled down tights and knickers while juggling bag and brolly. Assumed the hover position and only realised her mistake too late.

Bless her she went and found someone and explained so they could clean up properly (she'd done her best with loo roll).
