Clayton? Let me check.

MiddleAgedDread · 05/12/2025 18:56

Anywhere in the city centre will be ok, there’s a regular train into Piccadilly station and then she could hop in cab or get the tram if she doesn’t want to walk.

Lilly11a · 05/12/2025 18:57

Hoilday inn express is walkable and £99 for tonight

Trumpton · 05/12/2025 18:57

They have availability two nights £300. Pricey but she might do better to go a bit away from airport.

Thehop · 05/12/2025 18:58

Found availability on booking.com

MiddleAgedDread · 05/12/2025 18:58

get on a train that stops at Oxford Road, go down the station road, cross over towards Sainsburys and head down that road for a block and it’s on the opposite corner.

Mumsntfan1 · 05/12/2025 18:59

Booking.com has various options. Does she have one ticket with the connection? If so the airline should sort it out.

growgrowinggrown · 05/12/2025 18:59

Head into the city centre, its 20min on the tram which has a station inside the airport.
Lots of options in cheadle that are under a tenner in an uber, cosy b&b type places that are cheap as chips.

Thehop · 05/12/2025 18:59

Sorry this is what I found

accor tribe Manchester airport is £90

Fridaygin · 05/12/2025 19:00

There are premier inns in handforth and Wilmslow with availability- both 5-10 mins (approx £20 in a black cab, or Handforth is very close to the station)

MiddleAgedDread · 05/12/2025 19:01

If she’s got tomorrow to kill I’d rather be in the city centre than Handforth out by the airport. At least there’s things to see and do and choices for places to eat.

20 minutes max on the train, tram takes an hour to Victoria!

NerrSnerr · 05/12/2025 19:08

This was the first place I found when I looked on Google maps. https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/manchesterairportmoathouse.en-gb.html

NerrSnerr · 05/12/2025 19:10

The Wilmslow premier inn has rooms too. The first two hotels near the airport I have looked at have space.

TheRoseBear · 05/12/2025 19:18

There are regular trains from Oxford Rd and Piccadilly stations as well as a (lengthy) metrolink tram route. Hotels in Manchester city centre would be a good alternative oprion.

6.9 on booking.com = avoid! It’s also in the middle
of nowhere

I meant 'regular trains between the airport and both Manchester Oxford Rd and Manchester Piccadilly stations'. If your sister gets a train ticket to 'Manchester Central Zone' she'll be able to use trams in the city centre as part of the ticket.

If she is on one through ticket - somewhere > Manchester > somewhere - on one airline (or on one airline partnership like Star Alliance) then it is up to the airline to find and pay for accommodation for her, or to find an alternative flight route (e.g. via London).

Britannia Manchester Airport gas rooms and airport shuttle, look on booking, com or exoedia

MissMoneyFairy · 05/12/2025 19:43

Has rooms not gas

Cebello · 05/12/2025 19:44

Just get the train to Manchester City centre. There will be bookable hotels there. No need to stay at the airport for two nights.

this is a joke right?? This was well known for
being a flea pit full of long term refugees!
it’s right beside a dual carriageway and bugger all else.

That typo made me chuckle.

I envisaged specially ventilated rooms for farty people.

Yerdug · 05/12/2025 20:41
