How old is the baby?

Above birth weight and gaining well, I'd let them sleep.

When my little one was very young, and small (not preemie but slightly low birth weight) we were advised to. We only did it for the first few weeks, and only if he went longer than 3-4 hours. Once he started gaining again, and was waking more anyway, we stopped.

Age-dependent - we had to wake DS every couple of hours to feed during the first month as he dropped 18% of birth weight.

No fucking way would I have woken him up as a chunky 6 months old though (although he did plenty of waking himself!).

sorry I forgot to mention he is almost 6 months old

No chance I'd be waking him up at that age. Only for the first week or so until they regained their birth weight unless there are other medical reasons and it's been recommended.

Absolutely not at 6 months old. You only wake them when they’re newborn and haven’t regained their birth weight yet, or if there’s another medical reason like jaundice or poor weight gain. I did give mine a dreamfeed, but didn’t wake them, around 10pm as I went to bed to avoid them waking in the early hours but stopped at around 6 months as they didn’t need it once weaned onto solids.

Absolutely not then! There's no reason to be waking up a healthy 6 month old baby for a feed.

Unless directly told to by a medical professional, not a chance i would wake him to feed
