Bloody thin, flat, crap hair. Extensions are a bad idea aren’t they?

first world problem alert

Ugh! I’m so sick of my thin fine flat hair. I have had it in a very short bob (longest bits about level with my mouth) with a very slightly stacked back (as the back of my head is also flat) for years. My hairdresser persuaded me to try growing it to shoulder length, which I have done before, and here I am stuck back on a rut of putting it in a crocodile clip all the time as it looks so thin and gappy down. I have discussed extensions (for thickness only… not for length) with her so many times but I can never bring myself to do it, as I’m sure that (due to aforementioned crapness of my hair) the tapes or other types of connections will be visible. I am such a busy person I don’t have time to fiddle about with clip ins or anything I’d have to do myself really. The short haircut makes sense and it suits my well enough… I’d lust so love to have a choice and try long hair for a while.

any low maintenance extension experiences for thin hair?

do others just keep it short ?

Urgh.

Hi OP I really recommend Lucinda Ellery extensions for people with hair loss /thin hair as they don’t damage your real hair like normal extensions do. There’s several branches depending on where you live. Not cheap but worth it!

Mine is thick and beautiful now I have highlights. It coarsens it.

I had extensions for 2 years - I have thin crap flat awful hair - and I absolutely LOVED them.
I got them for thickness at first but eventually I had it long, I look at pics and long for them back lol

I got them taken out post first baby 6 years ago as the upkeep (and they do need looking after) and expense was just a bit much at the time. It coincided with my hair all falling out post natally which was great 😭🤣

I'm thinking about getting them back next year but really not sure I can justify the £££...but maybe I can haha

Rosemary oil?

@Geranium879 try Colour wow carb infused dream cocktail - honestly it’s magic!
my hair is so thin my scalp is showing and this gives me thicker looking hair with lift and volume. Costs around £20 and I’ve had my bottle since August with loads left.

It’s a serum to put in wet hair before you dry it and it’s amazing! I’ve ordered their raise the root spray too - just waiting for it to arrive!
my hair is shoulder length and not thick enough for a clip so I use a scrunchie which usually falls off!

Some great tips , thank you! It’s always good to have hope! What sort of extensions did you have @Posithor ? Thank you

Bonded ones - I really trusted who fitted them. I could only get half a head or you'd have seen the bonds though 🙈

I have baby fine hair which was also severely damaged. I’ve had extensions for 3 years now and I wouldn’t go back. My natural hair is in much better condition now too!

I have a weave and you can’t see the bonds unless it’s up.

Glue and rings are pretty bad for thin hair - look for a hair loss specialist who will only use kind and non damaging methods! But it was life changing for me.
